- I believe there is a sevens format of rugby league as well, hence why we don't use the title New Zealand national rugby sevens team. Tbh, if I'm right in stating that, I would prefer it if the standard title was Foo national rugby sevens team (union) and Foo national rugby sevens team (league), but that's an argument for elsewhere. – PeeJay 14:06, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  - Are you sure? I know there is rugby league nines, but not sure about sevens. Is there a single article on a rugby league sevens team on en-wiki? I just thought I'd ask because I believe the new title may confuse some people. It's probably more commonly known as rugby sevens—people are going to see that title, especially those unfamiliar with both rugby and league and wonder if they have found what they are looking for. - Shudde ^talk 11:56, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

      - OK, but there is not a single article on a rugby league sevens team? I mean there is Category:Variations of rugby league which has all sorts of rugby league variations (and seems to confirm that rugby league nines is more common)—but we are still talking about having a name intended to disambiguate it from an article that doesn't exist, New Zealand national rugby league team (sevens), and may not exist in the future? This seems to violate WP:COMMON (and cause unnecessary confusion in the process; imagine googling "USA rugby sevens" and seeing an article named "United States national rugby union team (sevens)" pop up!?) in order to disambiguate whole categories of articles (e.g. Category:National rugby union sevens teams which has 90 articles, excluding women's teams) from articles that don't exist! - Shudde ^talk 11:43, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
