The only verifiable date for the foundation of the club is 14 January, 1908. I think Wikipedia should stick to this date and mention the controversy (as I have done). The club is still the oldest club in existence (Glebe having disappeared after being ejected from the Premiership), though Glebe was clearly the first to be formed. -- User: CumberlandsAshes81 22 August 2006.

First or second oldest club?[edit]

The article states

This made Newtown the second rugby league football club in Australia and the oldest now in existence. The first club, Glebe, was formed on 9 January 1908. When the 'Dirty Reds' (Glebe) were controversially excluded from the NSWRL Premiership in 1929, Newtown became the oldest Australian club.

If Newtown was form on the 8th, and Glebe on the 9th, how is Glebe older?
