Requested move 10 February 2016[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Merge the two articles, and host at Niagara Falls station (New York). There seems to be a pretty clear consensus that this is the best thing to do. @Cuchullain: thank you for volunteering below to carry this out. I'll not take any action, and will leave this in your capable hands if that's OK. (non-admin closure)  — Amakuru (talk) 10:32, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

– Per WP:USSTATION. Niagara Falls station is ambiguous with Niagara Falls, Ontario railway station. I ran across the old New York Central station while searching. I doubt whether "Old Niagara Falls Train Station" was the actual name of the station. System disambiguation seems most appropriate here. If the new station under construction is sufficiently different to warrant a new article then this article could be moved again to Niagara Falls station (Lehigh Valley Railroad), but that's getting ahead of ourselves. • Support per USSTATION. epicgenius (talk) 15:18, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree to both, although they appear to be long titles there is clarity in what they relate to, rather than using initials for the RR names. They are nothing compared to the name of the Niagara Falls International Railway Station and Intermodal Transportation Center, that is currently being built. • Comment - would it maybe be better to change the name to Niagara Falls station (New York) since, if I'm not mistaken, only the current (Amtrak) station building survives today. The content contained within Old Niagara Falls Train Station could be moved into a history section within a single article about the current and former stations in Niagara Falls, New York. Note that apparently there was also a former Erie Railroad depot (see [1] and [2]) in Niagara Falls and it is not (yet) mentioned on Wikipedia. FFM784 (talk) 16:24, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge would be a better solution for the integration of all the old railroad stations. There is very little evidence for the NYCR station article, including references and photographs. See the comment above. Secondarywaltz (talk)
  • Support Niagra Falls station (New York), and merge the historical content in to flesh that article out. Good solution. "Amtrak" should be avoided because, as FFM784 says, Amtrak appears to serve the Canadian station, too.--Cúchullain t/c 17:58, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge the two articles into Niagara Falls station (New York), per all of the comments above.FFM784 (talk) 15:22, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge seems like the best solution. And don't wait for this RM to close; it's been 8 weeks and admins are unable to make out what to do with it, it seems. Dicklyon (talk) 05:05, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: if it will help speed things up, I'll volunteer to handle the merger.--Cúchullain t/c 14:35, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merge complete[edit]

I've completed the merge between this article (formerly titled Niagara Falls, New York (Amtrak station)) and Old Niagara Falls Train Station. Material on the former stations is included (with sources) in the "Early stations" section.--Cúchullain t/c 19:12, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
