sourcing issues[edit]

Hi, i noticed this article created by User:add925 in [this edit]. I like the pic and that an NRHP infobox was developed and that the article is surprisingly well-developed, well-written. User:Smallbones edited it somewhat and I think improved the flow. It's a quite interesting and informative story told about the architecture.

I wonder, though, about the sourcing. The article as first created seems similar to NRHP nomination documents that I have seen (I have worked on many thousands of NRHP articles, actually). I wonder if this is primarily based on a NRHP document, and believe that the author of the NRHP document should be given fair credit. In NRHP documents the author name and the preparation date appear in Section 11, usually several pages into the document. Could the author name and date be provided, at a minimum? I wonder also if the list of references given is in fact a copy of references given in the NRHP document. If that is the case, then the NRHP document should be given as the primary reference, and any others given only if they were actually consulted by the editor(s) of this articles. Is the NRHP document available on-line somewhere? I'd be happy to help develop a proper footnote and otherwise improve the sourcing here. Thanks! Again, a great topic and a great read already. doncram (talk) 15:48, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Doncram, yes I am a somewhat new user, but have originated some other historic related items Reno Gang, being one. I went by scratch for design, trying to keep the style you and others developed. Article was based on public NHRP document, which was developed using alot of info I submitted originally to the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. The Rand family is my spouse's family and they knew I had alot of historical/family documents. My edits today identify the original sources used to develop the NRHP document. Hope I've helped....Your improvements look excellentAdd925 (talk) 18:24, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
