What is the origin of the name Nikka? 88.195.53.186 (talk) 16:13, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The original company name was 大日本果汁株式会社 (Dai-nippon Kajyu Kabushiki-gaisha, literally Grate-Japan Fruit Juice Co., Ltd.), contracted to 日果 (Nikka). The distillery originally started making apple juice in 1934. --Krtek2125 (talk) 01:59, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Black Nikka renaming[edit]

Quote: As of 2009 Nikka decided to rename the Black Nikka brand to just "BLACK" for unknown reasons.

As far as I know, Black Nikka was renamed, because the name could be mistakable and seen as offensive in the US market, especially among african americans. I'm not sure if that is an urban legend, but it sounds believable to me. --Maelcum (talk) 16:32, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
