Merging of the Manila Domestic Passenger Temrinal with Terminal 1

Hey dudes, I'm planning to merge the Manila Domestic Passenger Terminal with Terminal 1, and letting Terminal 1 have 2 sections which is the International Terminal and Manila Domestic Passenger Terminal. My reason is that the Manila Domestic Passenger Terminal is actually part of Terminal 1 and Terminal 1 is being split to Terminal 1D and Terminal 1I. Can I have your reactions. I don't think they are the same building are they? Physically, they are separate structures, and people don't consider NAIA-1 to be a "part" of a terminal that also includes the Domestic Terminal as another part. Merging different terminals into one terminal is something I wouldn't agree to, but keeping them separate but under new headers (like Terminals 1, 3 and the international wing of Terminal 2 for international operations and the Domestic Terminal and the domestic wing of Terminal 2 for domestic operations) may seen a bit reasonable. --Sky Harbor 11:41, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Japan Airlines

Apparently, there are still JAL-operated flights (not its sister company, JALways) from Manila to Nagoya and Tokyo-Narita[1]. So, we can assume that it has not suspended flights to MNL. Japan Airlines uses flight code "JL", while JALways uses "JO". Apparently, Japan Airlines flights, from Manila to Tokyo-Narita is a Japan Airlines operated by JALways flight (check their timetables). And for there Manila to Nagoya flights, they suspended it as of 29 October 2006 (click this). MIAA Website

I know the website can be accessed occasionally, but lately i cannot access it, it has been like this for nearly 2 weeks, is there still an active website? if it is not as reliabe as it really should be, i suggest noting it on the page that the airport website is occasionally down, or something similar. sorry if this has been mentioned. --tomauer 13:50, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Merge

It is unnecessary to have an article solely about an airport terminal, current or future. If the operations of this terminal were separate from the rest of the airport, then this article might be warranted; otherwise this is an unnecessary fork. The main airport article is currently about 15 kB, way less than a long article. Tinlinkin 10:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Agree: This is just about a terminal, not really about a famous terminal like the Worldport in John F. Kennedy International Airport, and the Marine Air Terminal in LaGuardia Airport. This Terminal has really no significance. -chris^_^ 09:18, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Isn't it significant that Ninoy Aquino was killed there? Also they tried to kill Paul VI there. Also, perhaps it's better to just let people make articles about whatever they want. They should be free to express it. Someone probably worked hard to expand that article. As long as it's all made up of facts, why not let it be?

Airlines to serve in terminal 3

I am surprised to see American Airlines, Air France, Delta Airlines, Swiss International Airlines and United Airlines coming to serve the terminal. What is the source for this? When did the US airlines previously serve? I tried looking for Delta Airlines and NAIA and so far I found no matches. --58.69.21.135 16:36, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

That will be surprising if all the aforementioned airlines (American, Air France, Delta, Swiss, and United) will come back to Manila and serve NAIA Terminal 3. I wish that it will be open really soon to ease the crowding at NAIA Terminal 1 and to finally bring in more airlines serving Manila because it is a destination that is slowly losing European carriers because of various issues and controversies. I just really hope that the NAIA Terminal 3 will finally open by this year... as in, I really hope and pray for that to happen. --wishfulanthony 06:24, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Terminal 1 after Terminal 3 opens

Does anyone know what's going to happen with Terminal 1 after Terminal 3 opens? All the Terminal 1 flights are going to Terminal 3, so are they just going to abandon Terminal 1? Or perhaps expand Terminal 2 to include Terminal 1?

Also, are Terminals 1 and 3 even connected? Terminal 3 is by the Baclaran Church, if I remember right -- and that's pretty far off from where Terminals 1 and 2 are. Is it common to have two different parts of the same airport seperate from each other?J.J. Bustamante 04:47, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

    • The 2 terminals (I hear) will be connected by Bus/Jeepney/Train. These are the options i have HEARD of, im not 100%, but i'm sure they have figured something out with all that free time (considering T3 is a empty shell, going nowhere fast)

I Don't think there are any released plan's for T1, The Famous Philippine Architect who designed it (Loscin) did a good job, I't would be sad to see this part of me knocked down (guessing they will Demolish it). We won't know until it happen's by the look's. Would be nice to think of a new Domestic Terminal, I hope that is next on the plan's. Personally, Once all this is done, I would think the focus would be on Clark (CRK) DMIA, and the revolutionary plan's. --tomauer 06:23, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Terminal 3 Will Finally Open, At Long Last

I heard from the news in the Philippines that the controversial NAIA Terminal 3 will open soon, with a soft opening probably later in the year, and the first users of the new terminal will be domestic flights. Finally, after five years of being mothballed, the newest terminal for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport will open! I hope that this terminal will finally alleviate the current passenger mess Terminals 1 and 2 face for international and domestic travel, and this will be used (hopefully) for all international flights to and from Manila.

I heard that NAIA (all terminals) will not be a long lasting premier gateway of the Philippines, because the Philippine government is transfering the "Premier Gateway" to Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Angeles. DMIA is set to be one of the biggest airports in the world. They said the project is like the Hong Kong Airport Core Project. The International Airport will be world renowned and servicing more than 110 million passengers annually. It will be the hub of cargo and commercial flights in Asia-Pacific.It is also capable of NASA Space Shuttle and A380.

Let's just hope that DMIA will starts it's construction ASAP! I can't wait of the new airport. I'm sick and tired of NAIA-1.

NAIA-1 is the most antique airport ever. Now, Pres. Arroyo is urging to start the construction. I hope there's no controversies like NAIA-3 and I hope by 2015, the DMIA will fully operational. Yes, finally (well, their was a couple of opening dates missed), Terminal 3 is scheduled to actually operate. The whole issue shouldn't have occured in the first place. What a great image to create for international Investors. A total waste of time and money. Politics in the Philippines! yes it is! Bacolod-Silay City International Airport managed to be built, opened, run smoothly, all to schedule. Yet we couldn't get our Vital link in our Capital City to work, the HIGHEST priority, but we can do it on any Coconut island easy. Not the brightest story i've come accross. It is true. And no, Terminal 3 is not LCC-only. The official line is that Terminal 3 is the future international terminal which will replace Terminal 1, even if Cebu Pacific wants the terminal for itself. --Sky Harbor (talk) 16:12, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Separation of Terminal 2 & 3 in destinations

Why Terminal 2 has been separated into North and South:

  1. The wings are clearly labeled such by the airport.
  2. South and North are not directly connected.
  3. South and North does not share any facility except for those pre-check-in.

Why Terminal 3 has not been separated:

  1. Terminal 3 is basically one long terminal.
  2. The glass partition was place in order to divide the domestic and international secure areas. I believe this is a standard everywhere.
  3. Before entering the partitioned area, there is no division. Check-in halls are sorted by counter and it's up to them to divide it into domestic and international. International and domestic passengers share the same public arrival area and same pre-secure departure area.

I think we should look at two airports.

  • At John F. Kennedy International Airport's Terminal 4, it is in the same case as NAIA's Terminal 3. However, destinations have not been separated.
  • At Narita International Airport, Terminal 1 is separated even though there is no physical division. The two wings are interconnected, however, there exists a division between alliances. Airlines that operate in South do not operate in North, and vice-versa.

In the case of Narita, Terminal 2 is split into two separate buildings (main building and satellite), but airlines are not split as to whether they dock at the main building or the satellite. Kuala Lumpur International Airport is the reverse: airlines are split depending on whether they park at the main terminal or at the satellite.
In the case of NAIA-2, whenever there's an overspill of international flights, South Wing gates are used. The converse is true for domestic flights: North Wing gates are used. Actually, if we remember how Terminal 2 was designed, the division into "domestic" and "international" wings came much later. In fact, the pre-departure area of Terminal 2 is one big pre-departure area: the glass partition separating the North and South Wings has doors which connect both wings together. However, if we look at the way PAL refers to the terminal in its literature, it does not specify between north and south: it just says that its flights are operated at Terminal 2. The fact that only one airline operates from the terminal (two when PAL Express flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur move to Terminal 2 come April 1) should render any sort of division irrelevant. --Sky Harbor (talk) 17:48, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Airbus A380 Photo

The plane has no landing gear so either this is a fake photo or the pilot should be given an award. Since the shadow is not consistent with the object casting it, I am leaning towards fake. I move that the image be removed from the article and the possibly deleted from Wikipedia since it is only used in this article. The removal should be effected within seven days. I don't consider a photo to be of any particular necessity for the relevant article and thus do not propose that a replacement be sought. I have removed them, wikipedia is not an image gallery we have commons for that and all these are available if you follow the link. Wikipedia is not a travel guide so images of "destinations" are not appropriate either. MilborneOne (talk) 12:49, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Pandaigdigang Paliparan or Paliparan Pandaigdig?

From what I know, NAIA in Filipino is Paliparan Pandaigdig ng Ninoy Aquino. But as per to the article from Pilipino Star Ngayon (via Philstar.com) as edited by Shhhhwwww!!, it became Pandaigdigang Paliparan ng Ninoy Aquino. Both are correct I guess. It has to do with the Austronesian alignmnent which makes a complex sentence formation in Tagalog.Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 13:25, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
It works both ways although I've heard Paliparan Pandaigdig used more especially coming from those announcements on local airline flights. The part when the FAs translate flight status into Filipino, like Ilang sandali nasa Paliparan Pandaigdig ng Ninoy Aquino...--RioHondo (talk) 14:38, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Usage is inconsistent, though on the Tagalog Wikipedia we discussed this and stuck with "Paliparang Pandaigdig". Note that this has nothing to do with the Austronesian alignment; it's simply a matter of using Spanish word order (paliparang pandaigdig) versus English order (pandaigdigang paliparan). Aside from being shorter than "Pandaigdigang Paliparan" by one syllable/three letters, it's also what the airlines commonly use (with the exception of PAL, which is inconsistent). --Sky Harbor (talk) 01:48, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Inter-Terminal Transportation

This section gives the impression that Inter-Terminal transport is indeed available in fifteen minutes interval. I am a frequent traveler to the Philippines and on more than one occasion tried to locate this so called shuttle and have never been able to locate them. There are shuttles to Resorts World and other hotels that can then take you to other Terminals. There are no Airport Shuttles. Assassination of Ukol Talumpa & Killing of 3 Other People

Can't find anything in the archive, however SebastianAmor, removed previous reference due to "(The murder of said mayor is not an aviation incident/accident. To add to this, it was committed at the landside area of Terminal 3.)"

Not sure why this is relevant - Article on Heathrow lists the following non-aviation and land-side incidents:
