Thoughts? Sergecross73 msg me 14:20, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Yes, you're right. There sure is a serious problem with referencing. I think it that could be easily solved and also, it would be a good idea to merge the article with Nintendo Network while deleting the "Announcements" section since it is somewhat expendable and contains non-necessary information. What do you think?--Arkhandar (talk) 22:07, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Why would you chose the Nintendo Network as the redirect/merge target? The ND's aren't all about the NN, and they aren't shown on the NN, so I don't understand... Sergecross73 msg me 01:04, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
I made the Nintendo Network merge suggestion since Nintendo Direct webcasts are also transmitted on the eShop, and since the eShop is part of the Nintendo Network I think it would make sense to include it there. Just like, for example Qore (PlayStation Network) is part of PlayStation Network.--Arkhandar (talk) 15:03, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
This article's relatively inactive, so I'll mention it at WP:VG and see people's thoughts. Sergecross73 msg me 15:57, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Wow, I'm pretty surprised I couldn't generate any discussion on this. Right now, I don't think I'm so against it that I'd take it to AFD (I rarely nominate articles personally), but don't be surprised, Arkhandar, if someone in the future decides to nominate it for deletion, or heavily cut down or merge it, as it's in terrible shape, between the lack of any sources, and poor structure. (This looks more like a newsletter or a fansite entry than an encyclopedic article.) Sergecross73 msg me 17:06, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

You're absolutely right. The article does have a poor structure and lack of references, but I haven't seen you trying to improve it besides criticizing it.--Arkhandar (talk) 17:44, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
That's partially because I don't really feel it meets Wikipedia's standard of notability, and partially because I have no interest in writing about such a mundane topic anyways. (All this is, is essentially a name for a company's internet press releases/announcements. I have no interest in writing and documenting product announcements.) Sergecross73 msg me 19:22, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
There. Solved all of the page's problems. Thank you!--Arkhandar (talk) 19:49, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Expansion

I think if we keep up quality editing this article should not be deleted. It contains interenting and useful information. Perhaps just title it Nintendo Direct rather than a list though. I expanded the Wii U preview section and removed the expansion notice. If you feel it needs to be expanded further, put the notice back in however some other sections require much more expansion. Thanks, DarkToonLink (talk) 07:29, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your editing! This article had the title Nintendo Direct in the past, but since it didn't go along with Wikipedia's notability requirements, it was renamed to List of Nintendo Direct shows in order to meet these requirements. I don't really feel the need to further expand it beyond what it is right now, not counting with the respective marked sections. You can see the following reasons in the first talk above. --Arkhandar (talk) 14:38, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Pokémon Direct

The upcoming Pokémon Direct (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/pokemon/direct20130108/index.html) is listed in both the Game-specific and Mini Nintendo Direct segments. Despite the fact it will be short, I don't see ちょっと written on the website so it will be a full game specific ND. I'll remove it from the Mini section (which was actually added earlier today, as opposed to Game-specific added just now) Sorry I typed this quickly because this is sorta a current event that needs fixing. DarkToonLink (talk) 08:53, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Quite a large page, not very consistent, plus a lack of info.

I'm not sure who took up the mantle of giving Nintendo Direct its own wiki page, but I will say that there is a lot of potential for it to be very well done.

However, it seems like the page's size is becoming too great to handle, since there are a lot of empty sections, some of the summaries are rather poor (pointing out the February 21st ND section, which was really a slapdash job of copying a translation of the show, and pasting it here - thankfully, I tweaked it to the best of my ability), and that there isn't enough consistency - an example being the latest Nintendo Direct Mini on Flipnote Studio 3D not being listed as yet.

I mostly come in to fix up a few issues or take a crack at adding in sections that no one has done, but I think it would really be best to size down the page a bit because it's getting too big for its own good.

Other issues aside, it's great that people are tending to the page, though it's very apparent that there's quite a lot of work to be done.

I will continue to help as long as it's needed.

Proposed move

This article is called List of Nintendo Direct shows. I haven't ever heard them actually called 'shows;' they are usually referred to as presentations. So I feel List of Nintendo Direct presentations is a better title. Thoughts? DarkToonLink (talk) 09:02, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Completely agree with you. When I made the page I had no idea what to call them but presentations seems more adequate then shows or conferences.--Arkhandar (talk) 13:31, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Cool, I'll move it. DarkToonLink (talk) 09:48, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Policy on having Directs of both differing dates and content on the same row

I noticed that the July 3rd and 18th Directs were both on the same row. That in itself is not unusual as this has been done with Directs in the past with differing dates, but essentially the same content (allowing for additions/subtractions unique to each region's presentation). The two Directs referenced above have no content in common.

So should they be on different rows? I think they should be, as they have nothing in common besides being Directs. If there are no objections to that, we could use that as the policy for future Directs (different dates and content, different rows). MASB (talk) 05:34, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

What is a "schedule of realizations"

A Nintendo Direct presentation is called a "realization?" the section title seems like a bad translation. -Sforzando (talk) 01:37, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Nintendo Treehouse Live

Hi there should be a Nintendo Treehouse Live page becuse Nintendo is doing them a lot now A Candela (talk) 01:17, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

XenobladeX overview videos are not Nintendo Direct presentations

The first overview video for XenobladeX is incorrectly classified as a Nintendo Direct presentation, though it's never been classified as such, and only handled in a similar way (announcing a few days prior and then live streamed over YouTube/Niconico, and then uploaded separately to YouTube afterwards). They have been classified as "special movies" and "over views," but not as Nintendo Direct Presentations by Nintendo, not even once.--JB2448 (talk) 16:12, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

The recent Xenoblade X direct by Nintendo of America was listed as a direct on the website when it was brodcasted, so that basically invalidates your argument. TheTMOBGaming2 (talk) 13:35, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Future presentations

Okay, whoever keeps doing the August NX Direct presentation needs to stop. There should not be a Nintendo Direct until Nintendo themselves announce one. But until then, it needs to be labeled as TBA for the moment. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zacharyalejandro (talkcontribs) 02:07, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Japanese Directs with Iwata gone

Anyone noticed that almost all Japanese Nintendo Directs (with Iwata..?) are gone and not officially available anymore? :( About ~3 recent ones(which are all without Iwata are just left online(YT), but that's it. Hope someone has archived them, would be a huge loss. 94.220.229.236 (talk) 18:52, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

Should we keep that list of types of directs?

Should we? I removed them, as they seem very trivial and are entirely unsourced (with the exception of the E3 thing, which I left intact), but an IP editor undid this without any comment. Thoughts?--IDVtalk 18:59, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Probably too much weight is given to them at present, but they warrant some mention. Maybe just a simple list of the various types (without the images) would suffice? ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 02:24, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
Or maybe they can work as legend list for the table instead... The table alone seems to have all of these handled but may still in need of a legend list. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 07:48, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Somebody fix my edit/New Direct announced.

There is a Japanese Nintendo Direct incoming October 27th. It's basically a Monster Hunter themed direct. I was trying to figure out how to add the Nintendo Directs as they are announced, but I don't know how to add a Direct without having it be messed up and not knowing how to fix it. Can someone fix it please? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 21:07, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

If a new Nintendo Direct is announced in the same month as older ND you would want to add

rowspan="#"|

before the month name, # is number of rows the 'Month' cell will span across, then add new row like

|- | {{n/a}} | {{n/a}} | {{n/a}} | {{n/a}} | {{n/a}}

Notice the first cell won't be 'Month', the spanned 'Month' cell from last row will thrust in. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 21:46, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

So if a ND is announced for November 2nd, then immediately after, another ND specifically for Japan was announced for November 5th, how does that work? I'm currently working to put in a November 5th, slot for Japan, but the cell for the presentation is merged in with the month cell. I have put the rowspan 2 in there underneath the presentations for Nov 2. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 16:48, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
You got it, though, there's a typo. Missing "=" in "rowspan 2". Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 17:38, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Oh, I forgot about that! It's fixed now. Thanks so much for the help, Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...)! Zacharyalejandro (talk) 18:15, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Oh, and one more thing, could I possibly put this in my sandbox, so I get the idea of how to add a Direct without having to refer to the talk page and/or having to fix it myself numerous times? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 18:19, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, sure, it's not us to judge what you should do with your sandbox and your userspace drafts (WP:UD), as long as it'll help you contribute Wikipedia better somehow, see WP:UP. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 19:02, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

How does this work for entering a new month? I was doing it myself with same factor above, it somehow didn't help. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 04:19, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
