Speculation and original research.[edit]

Let's please avoid including information that is not confirmed. While I think that the other symbols are a Pikmin flower, Samus' helmet, Mario's cap, Yoshi's egg, the octopus from the Game & Watch game of the same name, the Blue Falcon and a balloon (from Balloon Fight), I'm not adding that to the article. RocketWobbuffet (talk) 11:44, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

True, although, it can be included if done correctly, mainly with support from a reliable third party source, and clarifying that it is speculations. For example, one could write "IGN speculated that the Egg symbol stood for a Yoshi minigame"(ref www.ign.com/Yoshi-mini-game? /ref) Sergecross73 msg me 16:23, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with that, but now the article even says there is a Star Fox minigame. This is not true. All the symbols are here: http://twitpic.com/9t8p3o There's no StarFox symbol to be seen (that ship-like symbol is confirmed to be the Blue Falcon, and not an Arwing). RocketWobbuffet (talk) 16:41, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct. Checking over the sources, no one suggested Star Fox, and the articles were pretty uncertain about all of their guesses. It wasn't worded accurately at all. I removed it outright. Sergecross73 msg me 16:56, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What about clarifying in this article that it's speculation based on the icons shown? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.157.88 (talk) 21:30, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I personally dont think we should include "IGN SPECULATED" because every nintendo fan already knows what the symbols stand for and therefore we automatically know that those minigames exist in the game there isnt any speculation about it because we all know it. if nintendo didnt want the Metroid and Pikmin ones mentioned on here then they wouldnt have released the trailer. since the trailers out it automatically confirms that a minigame based on that series is in there. however I do suggest we put in something like "while these symbols/logos are seen in the trailer/on the cover we do not know anything about them other than the minigames they go to will be themed off of Pikmin, Yoshi, Metroid, etc." basically saying yes they exist but we dont know anything else about them other than the symbol which automatically confirms they are in the game because we have not seen screenshots or demos of those ones. I honestly think you should post about the other symbols on here because it is a confirmed part of the game and since we know it it would be rude to keep things that are known from fans. they will get angry and continue to edit the page putting things about the symbols on there until you let them keep it there. and they have every right to put it on there because it is CONFIRMED BASED ON THE TRAILER ALONE!!!!!!!!!!! a Yoshi game, Metroid game etc. will be in the game. so I dont know why you are deliberately refusing to put a confirmed part of the game on the page. the people already know about it so its no secret and it deserves a spot on the page because of it and it is an important part so yeah. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.251.198.193 (talk) 19:24, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that you can't base things off watching a trailer alone. It is still original research. If an average person, not a "fan" or even a gamer, were to read "these games are in Nintendo Land because you can see their symbols in a trailer" they would have no idea what it's talking about. You need a written source that explicitly confirms the fact the franchises are represented in Nintendo Land, because all persons' interpretations of a video are different. Someone else is probably better at explaining it than I am, but Nintendo articles (or any other article) on Wikipedia are not written for "pleasing the fans" and you need to respect that. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 19:38, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
well with this you can base it off the trailer alone because Nintendo themselves were there and they themselves confirmed it without the need for a document. say something to the effect of "in the game nintendo has minigames based off of there popular franchises, at E3 2012 they confirmed that the minigames were represented by the games logo (for example the Donkey Kong Minigame is represented by the DK symbol that appears in the trailer because it is the symbol that Nintendo uses for all the Donkey Kong Games) so in the trailer we see that there is an Egg which Nintendo uses to represent things for there Yoshi series of games, there is also a Flower symbol which Nintendo used to represent the Pikmin Franchise in Super Smash Bros Brawl, and an image of Metroids Main character Samus Arans Mask which normally isnt a symbol nintendo uses for the representation of a Metroid game but it is recognizable symbol that can be used to represent the Metroid Frachise, however unfortunately there is no image or screenshot of the games that go with the images due to the fact that Nintendo only released Demos of 5 games with the Yoshi, Pikmin, Metroid, etc. games not included in the demos. also I know its not written to please the fans but it is a FACTUAL CONFIRMED part of the game from Nintendo so it should be included since Nintendo themselves (the creators of the game) confirmed that that is how it is working in the game. which in turn will make the fans happy. like I said they will also continue to post about it since it is OFFICALLY CONFIRMED BY THE GAMES CREATORS!!!!!!!!!! until you guys just decide to leave it on there. so I suggest that you just leave it on there or it will continue to be posted by fans since it IS OFFICALLY CONFIRMED BY NINTENDO WITHOUT NEED FOR A DOCUMENT!!!!!!!!. so I suggest let them post it on there then just leave it alone because of my above statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.251.198.193 (talk) 20:00, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
First off, refrain from using ALL-CAPS. Screaming is a sign of assuming bad faith and also doesn't change the fact you can't use original research on Wikipedia. Second, Nintendo didn't confirm anything. The only confirmed fact regarding the games not shown is "they are secret for now." Because of this fact, we can only assume without bias that the other games are currently unknown. Trying to analyze a trailer frame-by-frame doesn't confirm (or deny) the inclusions of certain franchises, it only makes make the subject matter even more inappropriate for an encyclopedic article. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 20:22, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
so even though the evidence is clearly in front of you you blatenly refuse to use it. its like saying you are dying of starvation but then when someone gives you something to eat you turn it away as if you were never hungry to begin with. it just doesnt make sense. the evidence is clearly sitting there black and white, plain as day, and yet you blatently refuse useful evidence that nintendo themselves released which clearly states that they want it to go over the internet (I guess you guys keep missing the part of where I say if Nintendo didnt want people to know about the "they are secret for now" minigames why release evidence and symbols that clearly make them not secret?) we dont have screenshots or gameplay of the minigames but yet we have symbols that the creators themselves use and there is absolutely nothing else that it can be and yet you are acting as if it is the least important matter. there is nothing else it can be it has to be those we have clear as day evidence that you are refusing stop being stupid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.251.198.193 (talk) 20:37, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any evidence except for you telling me to look at a trailer a certain way. That's still original research and is not allowed. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 20:47, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... the page is fairly new and many users will want to learn about the game. Even if this game is not going to be completed, the page should remain even as a stub so people will know what the game was supposed to be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.136.125.86 (talk) 00:23, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo characters[edit]

Before I set off to do research on the web, does Mario actually appear in this game, or is it just a bunch of Miis costumed as Nintendo characters? Salvidrim! 05:28, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

None of the characters actually make appearances. They either appear as costumes for Miis or are robots. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 20:22, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Huh. Interesting. I hadn't realized that. I guess that'd probably be worth mentioning, if it's not already. Sergecross73 msg me 20:29, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

costumes[edit]

Doesn't feature Nintendo characters just miis dressed up as them if that answers any questions. 3DSkindofguy (talk) 20:13, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
