Proficiency in Sanskrit etc[edit]

Someone removed what appeared to be sourced information here. They claimed that the source did not say what we had presented in the article. I can only see the first of the three pages cited but I do have grave doubts about the removal. Sanskrit was not a common language in south India and the poets most generally were considered to be of relatively low status, although in south India the varna system was basically brahmin and shudra, with nothing in between.

Can anyone with a decent contribution history here actually see the source? Can they please check it. - Sitush (talk) 08:38, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And it was removed again by an anonymous contributor. I'm still not happy about it and would appreciate a copy of the relevant page of the source. I'm also not happy that the anon thought fit to remove it because "probably is not definitive". Things do not have to be definitive to be included in articles, although they do have to be reliably sourced opinion. I have a gut feeling that these removals have more to do with getting rid of the mention of lowly status, ie: the common caste glorification stuff that surrounds communities such as the Nair when dealt with on Wikipedia. - Sitush (talk) 20:23, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notability tag[edit]

I removed the recently added notability tag. They are notable, period. Plenty of academics have discussed them. - Sitush (talk) 08:44, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(+1)-Their notability is not under minimal doubt and there have been extensive coverage in scholarly sources et al.~ Winged BladesGodric 12:07, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
