@My love is love: I'm currently drafting a review for this, should definitely be up within the next couple of days. Apologies for the delay. - Lips are movin 13:28, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, no problem. I Am... ***D.D. 13:39, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Background[edit]

  • "No Angel" was written by James Fauntleroy, Caroline Polachek and Beyoncé with the group of latter two also serving as the producers. Boots handled the additional production while Beyoncé was responsible for the vocal production. -> "No Angel" was written by James Fauntleroy, Beyoncé and Caroline Polachek, and produced by the latter. Beyoncé handled the track's vocal production, and American musician Boots provided additional production.
  • The song was recorded with guidance by Polachek and Stuart White at Russel's of Clapton in London, Fetalmaus Studio, Jungle City Studios and Oven Studios, all in New York City. -> replace "by" with "from", and I'd suggest to link London and New York City as this could read rather confusingly.
  • I'd suggest that you remove "eventually" in "eventually mastered".
  • During that tour, Beyoncé mentioned her admiration to Wimberly, adding that she would "love to get in the studio some time". Afterwards, he contacted the singer's team and both Wimberly and Polachek were invited to a studio in Manhattan to work on tracks for Beyoncé's upcoming album. -> During the tour, Beyoncé expressed her admiration of Wimberly, adding that she would "love to get in the studio some time".[2] Wimberly later contacted Beyoncé's management, and Polachek and himself were later invited to a studio in Manhattan to work on Beyoncé self-titled fifth studio album.
  • Each quote requires a reference directly at the end of the sentence that is quoted.
  • All are done. (talk) 11:40, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Composition[edit]

  • "noted" is used very often in this section.
  • "breathy", "lush" and "imitated" need quote marks as they are POV.
  • Mike Wass from the website Idolator -> Idolator's Mike Wass
  • Jody Rosen, writing for The New York Times -> Writing for the New York Times, Jody Rosen
  • Greg Kot writing on behalf of the Chicago Tribune noted -> Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune opined
  • Tim Finney in an article on Complex -> Complex writer Tim Finney
  • Admitting she is not perfect, nor an angel, Beyoncé sings the lines "Would you rather I be a machine who doesn't notice when you late or when you lyin'?"[8][18] and "No I'm not an angel, but at least I'm trying".[19] In "No Angel", Beyoncé declares that her partner is "no angel either", remarking that he is not perfect.[18][20] However, despite his imperfections, the protagonist admits she still loves her love interest.[21] -> Lyrically, "No Angel" serves as a declaration of a love interest's imperfections, and features Beyoncé deeming him "no angel either".[18][20] The track also sees the singer admitting to her own flaws, manifested in the lyrics, "Would you rather I be a machine who doesn't notice when you late or when you lyin'?"[8][18] and "No I'm not an angel, but at least I'm trying".[19] However, she states that she loves her partner, despite his imperfections.[21]
  • The lines of the chorus are sang by Beyoncé with pronouncing one word at a time in longer intervals. -> The chorus features consecutive, singular word pronounciations in longer intervals.
  • during that part -> during the interlude
  • Mark Sundstrom of the website Fuse -> Fuse's Mark Sundstrom
  • Comma after Jay-Z and "added"
  • All are done by My love is love. (talk) 11:41, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Critical reception[edit]

  • I'm not sure if DJ Booth is a high quality reliable source?
  • I would recommend that the reviews by both Spin writers, Financial Times, The Verge, MuuMuse, Associated Press, Chicago Tribune and The Quietus be tagged onto the end of the Composition section in a separate paragraph as all these reviews are essentially interpretations and not critique.
  • I would also recommend that the Solange image be beside the abovementioned paragraph, with a better close-up image instead.
  • I noticed The Observer calls it a baroque'n'B track. Should this not be listed in the song's genre on the article?

@My love is love: Once the above has been addressed, I shall continue. - Lips are movin 23:15, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lips Are Movin, My love is love, are you going to continue with this? It appears the review has been abandoned after over a month of no activity from either of you here. If there's no activity here in a week or so, I might just go ahead and close it as unsuccessful myself. Snuggums (talk / edits) 04:34, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Due to lack of activity from both nominator and reviewer, I'm closing this as unsuccessful. No point in keeping open a GAN that has clearly been abandoned. Snuggums (talk / edits) 02:39, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is too bad, because the article is probably pretty close to GA. What happened here? @: Do you have a sense of what still needs to be done to achieve GA status? I saw that you made comments above about what was completed. Would you consider re-nominating this article? ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:27, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is sad when GAN's get abandoned, though I have no prejudice against a future renomination later on. Best to start fresh with a new review at this point. Snuggums (talk / edits) 20:37, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
