This entire article needs more information about the company, and removal of extra fluff only there to make the company sound better. I tried to tone down some of the wording on the "Early Adopters" section yesterday, but also feel like the entire thing is just not noteworthy. Should we just remove the entire section? Or shorten it significantly? Vivocj (talk) 20:28, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the issues in this article, as seen by yours truly.[edit]

Template at the top is correct - a ton of issues with this article, a lot of it has to do with just that fact that the goals and abilities of the company really seem all over the place. My main problems with how this business is being presented here follows.

1. The article emphasizes throughout that one of the main goals of the company has to do with creating a marketplace/market-rate/reliable method of measurement/etc. for soil-based (farming-intensive) carbon *removal* and *sequestration* through various partnerships with farmers and agricultural organizations. In the "Products and services" section (which I retitled and formatted btw) the "NRTs" are units of *past* carbon removal/sequestration actions for carbon/CO2 that "has been removed" from the atmosphere. If the platform's meant to sell removal/sequestration credits, that sentence makes it sound like they're still fiddling with setting a rate for and/or finding services that actively capture/sequester emissions into soil - in which case, this rate cannot be set or or honestly advertised as a feature of partnering with Nori.

2. I added a note for "needing further clarification" to the section that says the company's in the process of creating an API that links to other digital platforms/applications for "carbon removal." From the rest of the article, it seems like the main body or heft of the company's digital/technological presence is in creating a marketplace for purchasing removal offsets. "[...] for carbon removal" makes it sound like the scripts or smaller applications produced are going to contribute somehow to the process of sequestering carbon, which a) they can't, according to the actual scope of the company's dealings. b) even if a rate were presented to a company looking to incorporate a Nori API into their user interface/platform/etc., from section 1 ("the rate is either still being decided on their end,") any published/presented rate is being represented/utilized with partners as an inherently variable quantity (which would require constant communication with Nori in order to confirm/establish/actually trade with accuracy, yikes,) or is a misrepresentation.

My hope is that they're not hoping to create an exclusive marketplace that works against farmers who do this anyway through making established rates/trading exclusive.
