History[edit]

The Diction used in this section has some negative aspects to this, I wonder if this could be changed, it gives off a bad vibe about the town.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Outback the koala (talkcontribs)

The section certainly needs work. There's a lot of material in there that has no references, so feel free to copyedit as you see fit. However, keep in mind that Wikipedia is not intended to be positive (or negative) about any particular subject - it should only present the facts. Mindmatrix 00:07, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Transportation[edit]

The transportation section could use a bit of an overhaul as there are a number of YRT, and GO lines that go through Oak Ridges. VIVA is already covered so that is fine—Preceding unsigned comment added by Outback the koala (talkcontribs)

worked on this section quite a bit by adding routes and lines that will be helpful ( not all YRT route 84s were added. left out 84B and 84C explaining differences would be strenuous to say the least) - will do more on this later. Outback the koala (talk) 04:18, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
also links are needed! i couldnt finish. Outback the koala (talk) 04:21, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Separatist Movement[edit]

If there's anymore information about this out there- it would be greatly needed, its a very politically charged issue and important to the history of Oak Ridges and the town today. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Outback the koala (talkcontribs)

I've removed the section for now, as there aren't any reputable sources to support the claim. Mindmatrix 00:09, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Its less of a claim, more common knowledge. If only someone keeps those leaflets you see around oak ridges sometimes. The section should indeed stay, its a part of the town, but it could be left to say something like citation needed, yknow? Outback the koala (talk) 03:31, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth -- Wikipedia:Verifiability. Raysonho (talk) 07:09, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Methadone clinic[edit]

Way back when, I added the tidbit about Oak Ridges being the site of the first methadone clinic in Ontario. I'm not sure that's correct - it appears to be the site of the first methadone clinic operated by Ontario Addiction Treatment Centres, but may not be the first one overall. Does anybody have info about this? Mindmatrix 15:25, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Development in Oak Ridges[edit]

I would like to point out that the land by Yonge and Bloomington is owed by Baif Developments. It got a plan of subdivision approved about 10 years ago in an Ontario Municipal Board hearing. The H symbol that the writer is talking about is actually a planning term. An H on a property is a hold. Due to the shortage of sewer allocation from the Region of York they have been waiting to build. The application to remove the H is due to the fact that the sewer allocation has become partially available. On this property only 25% of the lots are able to be built. When more sewer allocation is available they will be able to proceed. This can be backed up by a simple call to the planning department at the town of Richmond Hill Phoebe Chow is the planner on this file pchow@richmondhill.ca

The other property that has been written about is the Bond lake area. It was going to be developed until the province traded the land for pickering land and declared this property a park. It will never see development. [1]

So how do we go about editing this to reflect the facts? Oakridges (talk) 18:46, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well this all seems straight forward and truthful to me. Since the Bloomington land section has no citations so we can just go ahead and change it to what you are saying. For the bond lake section it has citations, but you have your own citation which seems to be a government agency, I believe that government websites are generally more reliable, so we should just switch that out for your info. Thanks for contributing to wikipedia! and thanks for the great info! Outback the koala (talk) 19:02, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It seems your info on Bond Lake is incorrect as I drove there myself to check it out, I was so surprised by this new development you see, but all I saw were construction vehicle working away. Given that I saw with my own eye construction, right off Old Colony Rd.! This cannot be the correct. Sorry...Outback the koala (talk) 04:11, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copied from article after this posting:

NOTE: Much of the above noted information is incorrect and misleading. as the Ontario Municipal Board is ultimately responsible for designation for development, not the Town Council. This information is being presented in a highly prejudicial and misleading manner by an individual who either lacks knowledge of the actual processes and mechanisms of government and development in Ontario, or with a specific agenda.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.237.148.80 (talkcontribs)
