Sixth vs Seventh studio album[edit]

You cannot number only Korean/Mandarin studio albums. Exo also released a full studio album in 2018 in Japanese. This will be the seventh studio album release by Exo. You are free to make the distinction of it being their 6th Korean/Mandarin studio album in later sections of the article, but the lead of the article must state facts plainly and simply. This is their seventh studio album, therefore the lead must state that fact. That is my position and I believe it reflects Wikipedia guidelines found here - WP:MOSLEAD. Looking to form a consensus on this topic, with opinions both in agreement and in opposition welcome. NicklausAU 12:04, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that the lead should be simple. What exactly that entails depends on each musical act/article. K-pop fans do certainly like to ignore the fact that their favourite groups also record albums in Japanese and/or think these should not be counted as part of the act's overall number of albums, as if the act is a separate entity when they record in a different language. I will note however that there are certain acts outside of K-pop that do not count overall number of albums in the lead of an article. For example, Celine Dion records in both French and English, and each of her album articles is introduced according to which number album it is that Dion has recorded in that language (for example, "sixth English-language studio album" on These Are Special Times).
