A whale of a definition.[edit]

Since "A whale" is being called, an oil "Skimmer", I have no idea on how to classify or word it under this particular article. Any ideas?--Hourick (talk) 06:20, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The explanations of A Whale I have come across describe it as a "decanter." I assume this means the inner workings of the vessel are a weir-type skimmer. So if the "decanter" analogy is being used accurately, the "sediment" in wine decanting is analogous to seawater and the decanted wine is the oil spilling over the top, as in a weir separator. 98.122.162.247 (talk) 00:50, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I am on the talk page for this wikipedia article as part of my class. I am here to give my summarization and thoughts on the article. The article for 'oil skimmers' and their purpose was good! it matched all online sources I found discussing skimmers and the post avoids using any biased language or opinions.
