Second largest wooden building[edit]

So far I have this diff by Lanma726, adding the claim that the building is the largest wooden building in the Southern Hemisphere, and the second-largest wooden building in the world (after Tōdai-ji in Nara, Japan). The archive of that source ([1]) supports both of those claims, but, y’know, it’s one of those kinds of claims—I would like better. Then this IP diff corrects the claim as being only true until 1998, but gives no updated source or explanation—which of course is the reason I began this search.

In checking Tōdai-ji, it seems implied that the Nipro Hachiko Dome (opened 1997) surpassed it, but that would be a strange date to use, and it isn’t supported at all by that source. — HTGS (talk) 04:51, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Old versus former[edit]

The same IP who has objected to the term "Old Government Building" has had a go at the Christchurch building of that name, too. There was enough disruptive editing going on that I protected that article. As I'm involved, I won't take any administrative action against the IP but @Gadfium might want to keep an eye on the situation. Amusingly, I was told that in the Christchurch case, the Heritage New Zealand reference should be disregarded. Here, it's the reason for their edits. Schwede 66 04:01, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
