On a youtube video, Neil Young claims that he wrote this song for a squatter that was living on his farm, however, on the DVD of his Prarie Wind tour, he claims that this song is about the man that he bought his ranch off. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steven Kovax (talk • contribs) 09:08, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the DVD of his Prairie Wind tour (actually the DVD of Jonathan Demme's Heart of Gold film), he does *not* state that he bought his ranch from the old man. He says that the old man was the caretaker on the ranch; he repeats this story at least once (see youtube for Feb, 1971 BBC performance of the song, in which he also says he purchased the ranch from "two lawyers"). Also, there doesn't seem to me to be anything in the lyrics that makes it "pretty clear" that the narrator is addressing his father. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.73.52.184 (talk) 19:06, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The section of covers is huge, but I haven't touched it because I'm not 100% sure on the policy.
