I was thinking about writing an article on this song - thanks! Fences&Windows 22:44, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Which Version is Earlier?[edit]

Though I can easily believe that the song started out as "Rosin the Bow" rather than "Rosin the Beau," I wonder about the provenance of the "Bow" version lyrics that we give here. If the first published version is the 1838 "Beau" version, what evidence do we have that the "Bow" version as we give it here is older than that? Does it exist in an unpublished pre-1838 manuscript somewhere? Or is it from a post-1838 source that is assumed to be faithfully transmitting the pre-1838 lyrics? 206.208.105.129 (talk) 16:29, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I can easily believe that listeners always understood the song as punning on bow/beau. In any case this article claims to know the bow version is earlier while giving no evidence for that. Colin McLarty (talk) 05:30, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Roisin[edit]

Where does the spelling "Roisin" that is often found come from? --Neitram (talk) 21:23, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Robin the Bow[edit]

I've removed the reference to "Robin the Bow". This source seems to cast doubt that it's actually related to "Rosin the Bow/Beau". Ibadibam (talk) 22:32, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
