Height

I have a hard time believing she is 5' 7" - but I can believe 5' 5", despite this post: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150450439938242.460221.360638963241&type=1&comment_id=24375504&offset=0&total_comments=30 Olivia Culpo: "I'm 5'7..i'm not too sure why it says i'm 5'5 online." 24.62.156.219 (talk) 00:16, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

I agree, Alyssa Campanella is 5'8", Olivia can't be 5'7" according to the photos taken at her crowning moment. 1 inch doesn't make that much difference no matter they're wearing different high heels.Josh (talk) 07:24, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Bear in mind though that she is kneeling slightly to make it easier for Alyssa to crown her. Maybe she is 5 feet 6 and 9/16 inches, which she rounds up to 7 inches. Note also the almost 2 inch platform shoes she wears in some of the photos. Her runner up is listed as 6 feet, which even at 5 7 is 5 inches taller. I am actually leaning toward giving her the benefit of the doubt and going with 5'7" - but will be watching for more information. 24.62.156.219 (talk) 20:37, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
You can never really tell from pictures. I've observed a marked decline in the quality of photography, esp. in how accurately it portrays people, and with digital processing a lot of photos look more like drawings. Bostoner (talk) 01:28, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Olivia Culpo's actual height is 5'5. There are multiple sources stating so. The Miss USA 2012 page had her at 5'6 using this link as a source, which states she's a shade above 5'5: https://normannorman.com/2012/06/05/olivia-calpo-almost-petite-but-completely-beautiful/ If you look at pictures of her (without heels) and Nick Jonas who is 5'7 she is at least 2 inches shorter than him, which makes it impossible for her to be 5'7: http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/sXf8syi-P5d/Nick+Jonas+Olivia+Culpo+Hold+Hands/Uiz39J3d4_p/Nick+Jonas Even with heels (not platform) she is still barely taller than him, making it impossible for her to be 5'7.: http://www.eonline.com/news/666260/did-nick-jonas-and-olivia-culpo-break-up Additional sources: http://healthyceleb.com/olivia-culpo-height-weight-body-statistics/19176

Also, if you compare her to Victoria Justice who is 5'5 she is slightly shorter than her, given that Victoria Justice is wearing a bit of a platform heel here: http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Victoria+Justice/Olivia+Culpo/NYLON+Young+Hollywood+Party+Presented+BCBGeneration/M2AZRpnLoSg http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Victoria+Justice/Olivia+Culpo/NYLON+Young+Hollywood+Party+Presented+BCBGeneration/uRHvBa6fjQI (CJY) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.77.6.7 (talk) 20:18, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

I definitely agree on the height claim of 5'7" being too generous. Olivia Culpo seems like a solid 5'5" max.
The most accurate way of solidifying height is through comparing next to others, claimed height by models is almost always lied about.

Just compare her next to 5'5" Madison Beer

  • Note that both are wearing non-platform heels, giving neither more of a height advantage over the other:

  • Point of reference/comparison from the same night, Madison Beer next to 5'7 Amanda Steele: Madison Beer is significantly shorter than 5'7 Amanda Steele, and Olivia Culpo is shorter beside 5'5 Madison Beer:

Conclusion: She seems no more than 5'5-5'5.5" 173.52.218.195 (talk) 18:37, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Nicole
That's original-research synthesis. The WP:RS cited source says 5'7".--Tenebrae (talk) 17:12, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Disputed personal life information

According to a feature article in the Providence Sunday Journal before Olivia's homecoming, Olivia's start in modeling is attributed to Rhode Island jewelry and handbag designer Andrea Valentini, a family friend. However, there is a statement attributing the start of Olivia's modeling career to Kiel James Patrick which is a men's fashion designer. I believe that the Kiel James Patrick sentence was added to this entry solely as an attempt at guerilla marketing and should be disputed. The feature article was not published online so I can not use it as an online reference to link/attribute the correct information to. Can a more experienced editor please assist me with correcting this? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.9.88.75 (talk) 03:43, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

believes marijuana smokers are criminals and bad for society

her recent comments say it should stay illegal for recreational users.

"Break up"

It's pretty well-established at WikiProject:Biography that we don't trust unnamed, anonymous sources, which People etc. are citing on the Nick Jonas break-up story. Without confirmation from the subjects or their representatives, these are just rumors and WIkipedia does not publish rumor and gossip. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:34, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

The LA Times article was lifting the news from E!, which it properly cited. The E! article, like all the others, is based on anonymous, unnamed, shadowy "sources," i.e. rumors. WikiProject:Biography is clear that we don't publish rumors and gossip. We wait for confirmation by the subjects or their reps. Indeed, the LA Times item is even in a section titled "Gossip"!--Tenebrae (talk) 16:12, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

I agree. This article needs to be semi-protected!--Glory of Space (talk) 20:01, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Way ahead of you! Request already in ... and thank you for the support! --Tenebrae (talk) 20:30, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Heck, it needed to be semi'ed a while ago, to protect against the sockmaster who has been changing her height in the infobox for months!! --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:22, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

However, there is this – still not enough to put it in the article, but it's getting closer to that level, I think... --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:24, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Someone added a Yahoo! Sports cite that simply reiterates previous articles and uses the red flag "sources day." Anonymous, unnamed, shadowy "sources" can say anything they want — they don't have to stand by the veracity of their claims. Unconfirmed, anonymously sourced claims are rumors. When it comes to living people's personal lives, WP:BLP is clear that we don't publish rumors. --Tenebrae (talk) 13:56, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

BLP issue

After two different editors reverted a WP:BLP edit based on anonymous rumors, I invited the editor who reinserted the claim to come to this talk page to try to reach consensus with other editors. --Tenebrae (talk) 23:17, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
