Naming the studio that makes the show[edit]

I was asked to open a talk page discussion about this. I added this sentence to the opening paragraph, with reference:

It is produced by Nelvana in Toronto, Ontario.[1]

Naming the studio that produces the show, is essential information about the show. It's sourced and the Manual of Style suggests this kind of production information in the opening paragraphs. I'm not sure why it's being removed. Guillyman (talk) 23:05, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Does this need to be in the lede? – I think It is produced by Nelvana in Toronto, Ontario. is appropriate in the 'Production' section, but I don't think the "in Toronto, Canada" needs to be in the lede... --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:16, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
At least "It is produced by Nelvana." should be in the lede, it's one of the most basic pieces of information on the show. Otherwise we only name the American broadcaster in the lede, instead of the studio actually involved in making the show. Can that sentence be added? Guillyman (talk) 21:13, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, since it apparently wasn't clear in my reverts earlier I do not support this and am in agreement with IJBall. It is superfluous in the lead. Also, learn to indent your replies. Amaury • 21:50, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RfC about naming the studio that makes the show in the lede[edit]

Should the sentence "It is produced by Nelvana." be included in the lede? It is one of the most important pieces of information about the show, but the lede currently only lists the US broadcaster and not the Canadian studio that makes the show. Guillyman (talk) 21:54, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment – Including the company that produces the show in the lede is common practice at TV series and is consistent with WP:TVLEAD. As long as the "Toronto-based" part is left out (that's likely extraneous in the lede), I have no objection to this. That said, I would also revise the current lede into two separate sentences – something like, Ollie's Pack is an animated action-comedy television series created by Pedro Eboli and Graham Peterson. It is produced by Nelvana, and premiered on Nickelodeon in the United States on April 6, 2020. --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:52, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall: Does the country of origin's network and premiere date need to be included in the lead as well with what Guillyman is saying about WP:WEIGHT? Seems to be fine just having it included in the broadcast section per MOS:TVINTL. Magitroopa (talk) 06:12, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Canadian here—this is kind of a tough one but I don't think including Canada and it's premiere date in the lead is necessary. Yes, we don't want to provide undue weight, but the show first aired in the US. For example, if they both premiered on the same day, but we only listed US in the lead, then I think that could possibly be undue weight (but that's not the case here as the Canadian premiere date is months later). Leaving it in the "broadcast" section seems fine to me. Also, I would note the US broadcast in the broadcast section as well, not just the Canadian. And yes, I agree "it is produced by Nelvana" should be in the lead per comments above. Heartfox (talk) 07:30, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
At the most, include Canada but not its premiere date (same as current version). Heartfox (talk) 07:35, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This seems reasonable. --IJBall (contribstalk) 14:16, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Broadcast Order[edit]

This show is a Canadian production so I prefer the episode list to go by Canadian broadcasting order instead of American. 101 Dalmatian Street was also not an American series and so goes by the broadcast order of the country of origin.

I'm suspecting a WP:CRYSTAL issue, since Magitroopa said that going by US broadcasting order is fine. Sure, you can keep the American airdates, but NOT the order. It needs to go by Canadian broadcasting order.

The show has ended.(?)[edit]

Nickelodeon has not said verified/or/shown possibilities of the show returning, and has ceased advertisement on the series as well as having no reruns for months. The original finale was supposed to air in December but it had been pulled (note it had aired in international Markets in January). Services such as Amazon and Google Play have the episodes with their original December air dates unavaliable for purchase. There is a possibility the show has been silently cancelled. I added the end date for the latest episode that had aired. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spuffy (talkcontribs) 13:23, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No- as stated in my recent edit, we are not going to assume is has been cancelled, whether silently or not. That would be original research. Either have a source that it is cancelled, or wait 1 year/12 months since the last new episode aired (which would be about December 16, 2021) per the instructions in Template:Infobox television:
"The first air date of the show's last episode on its original network. Use "present" if the show is ongoing or renewed and  () if the show is ended. Only insert the last episode's date after it has happened. In some cases the fate of a program might be uncertain, for example if there are no announcements that a show has been renewed. If such a program has not aired a new episode in 12 months, "present" can be changed to the date the last episode aired, using  (). This does not imply the series has been cancelled, rather that the program "last aired" on that date. This is to prevent programs from being listed as "present" in perpetuity. In the event that a program resumes airing after a long hiatus, such as more than 12 months between episodes or cancellation and subsequent renewal, the date is simply replaced with "present" to reflect the "current" status of the program." Magitroopa (talk) 16:55, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And guess what? Two upcoming episodes have been confirmed but we don't know when will they air. BaldiBasicsFan (talk) 16:17, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The creator confirmed on twitter that Nick did not order a season 2, hence it is cancelled. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 19:08, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Unverified Twitter account- WP:NOTRS, can't be used as a source for this information. A reliable source is needed to verify this. Magitroopa (talk) 20:47, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But per WP:RSP unverified Twitter accounts can be used if the user's identity is confirmed in some way, in this case, he's the creator of Ollie's Pack. In some cases, they may choose to not verify their account. This tweet here clearly shows he was working at Nickelodeon during Ollie's Pack. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 06:31, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's not what that means: "if the user's identity is confirmed in some way" means that it needs to be independently verified – i.e. the Twitter account was mentioned as belonging to the person in question in a news article of something. Otherwise it would need to be a verified social media account of a showrunner or the TV network. --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:55, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Director Table on Episode List[edit]

Each episode basically has the same director, which can make the episode list look repetitive. I think it should be removed from the episode table so that it won't deal with repetitive nonsense. This was the case with the episode lists of the first two seasons of The Loud House. It would be fine if there was more than one director, but this is not the case with this show.
