DYK Nom[edit]

Frontenac County Road 95/96?[edit]

I suspect this would have been signed as Frontenac Islands Road 95/96 as 1998 municipal amalgamation left Frontenac County as a hollow shell (a "management district" but without official county status at one point between 1998-2003). Ambulance service, one old folks' home and precious little else remained under county jurisdiction; The county seat was removed from the historic Frontenac County Court House and situated on the rural Battersea Road near Glenburnie, technically still within the town line but a shadow of its former self. Similar issues arise with 2, 15 (south of 401), 33 (east of Collins Bay Road) and 38 - all of which were downloaded and signed as "Kingston 2,15,33 or 38" in the former Kingston Township or Pittsburgh Township. Signage such as "South Frontenac 38" would also have appeared as part of this mess (the five 1998 municipalities containing pieces taken from Frontenac County are North Frontenac, Central Frontenac, South Frontenac, Kingston, Frontenac Islands). 66.102.83.61 (talk) 02:55, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PNG vs. SVG[edit]

The highway-number icons for junctions (such as Main Street) aren't displaying correctly as these are .PNG files and {{jct}} / {{jcon}} expect an .svg filename. I've tagged these (Image:Ontario 95.png, Image:Ontario 96.png) on Commons as needing to be converted to SVG, but odds are that nothing will be done soon given the sheer number of other similarly-tagged files. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 17:59, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I made the svg files for the highways that had articles two years back. It's on my to-do list to go back and make the missing numbers and the As / Bs, but it may be a few months before I actually start up Flash and do it. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 19:26, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Create a redirect at King's Highway 95?
  • Why does the lead open with this alt name?
    • It's the official legal name. This is boilerplate though and appears on every Ontario highway article in an almost identical format. - Floydian τ ¢ 15:59, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "with Highway 96, the highways were the only King's Highways " I wonder if it's possible to re-work this to avoid "highway" being used thrice in nine words.
  • "the Wolfe Islander III ferry" ship names are typically in italics.
  • "county road system.[4]" no need for that link in the lead, just make sure it's covered in the article and cited there.
  • "across the island" I think you need to re-introduce where here.
  • " (seasonal)[1] to" no inline external links.
  • Don't you typically put the length of the highway in the lead?
  • Ref 2 could use an en-dash, not spaced hyphen.
  • Same for ref 3.
  • Ref 9 is missing basic ref information such as publisher/date/access-date etc.
  • And it has a spaced hyphen instead of an en-dash.
  • Are there any "establishment"/"disestablishment" categories that could go here?

That's it. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 09:20, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Everything fixed. I normally leave categories to the people that deal with that system, but I've added the two that apply to this article (which like 2 other articles use) - Floydian τ ¢ 15:59, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
