Engine/Transmission options[edit]

ISTR the 3-speed autobox was available with the 2.1L diesel engine; a contemporary road test by one of the British weeklies referred to the estate version as the “Opel Rekord Diesel Engined Automatic Load-carrier” or “ORDEAL” due to its distinct shortage of get up and go.
