The article says this:[edit]

""Where's the party?", another single from the True Blue album, is the first version of Open Your Heart Madonna had recorded, she abandoned the lyrics and replaced them with her own, thus becoming Where's the Party. The version of Open your Heart on the True Blue albums is really the second version she had recorded."

Is there any proof of this? These two songs sound nothing alike, and the writers of "Open Your Heart" are not credited on "Where's the Party" (which they would have to be if the song were based on theirs).

Missing reference[edit]

There is an apparent oversight in the current version of the article, where it lists "Susan Bordo" as a footnote for a quote, but doesn't list her or her work in the references. The quote appears to come from her published book "Unbearable weight : feminism, Western culture, and the body", according to Google books. -- Michael Devore (talk) 06:48, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UK Debut?[edit]

Did this enter at 67 on the UK chart? I always thought it entered at number 8, in fact it was number 4 in it's second week, and I would have remembered a jump of 63 places as it would have no doubt been a record at the time. Distant love[edit]

The expression "innocent feelings of boy-meets-girl romance" (see item 1 below) might mislead some readers into thinking that the girl and the boy described in the lyrics meet each other although there is no evidence of this.

I think the love depicted in the song should be clearly described as a distant admiration kind of love. To be concrete, I suggest the following changes:

1. In the first paragraph: Replace: 'Lyrically "Open Your Heart" is a love song, talking about innocent feelings of boy-meets-girl romance and Madonna expressing her sexual desire.' by: 'Lyrically "Open Your Heart" is a song about a distant admiration kind of love and is talking about innocent feelings of boy-meets-girl romance and Madonna expressing her sexual desire.'

2. In Composition and lyrics, the first paragraph: After: 'Lyrically, "Open Your Heart" is a simple love song.' add: 'It describes a distant admiration kind of love felt by the girl. The line: "I see you on the street and you walk on by" shows the girl's physical separation from the boy, and the line: "But you choose to look the other way" shows that the boy ignores her so that the love remains unrealized.'.

3. In Music video: Put the last 2 sentences ('The tension between …' and 'Only when she disappears …') into a separate paragraph.

4. In Music video: Add after the last sentence: 'The part of the video that shows the stripper in the club is like a metaphor for the lyrics. The physical separation in the video between the stripper and the customers corresponds to the physical separation in the lyrics between the girl and the boy. In addition, although the relationships in the video and the relationship in the lyrics are different, they share the property of being unrealized relationships.'

Music video; filming location of Hotel Facade[edit]

The facade of the strip club was filmed at 1314 Court Street, LA. Source; Either google map 1314 Court st, 2009 street view and compare with music video, or watch the Youtube video of someone who was there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSxtb6fdEzU . Or, compare screenshots of streetview with the music video. I am 100% certain. The lot matches up, power lines, background building, and background house with power pole in between the camera and the house.
