One of the references provided is this one:

There is a serious question about the reliability of this source. Other books by James Shortt get poor reviews on Amazon. This book is clearly unreliable as regards SAS procedures but may or may not be accurate about history. It is discussed here: James Shortt at the British Army Rumour Service wiki
