I believe the ONC to be equivalent to much more than 2 A levels....

In 1971 I obtained an ONC in electrical and electronic engineering with 4 Distinctions and 1 Credit. ONC was then an entry qualification for BSc(Hons) in electrical and electronic engineering. The Universities that I applied to (City, Kings, Chelsea) only required 3 Credits or more out of the 5 modules. It is also worth noting that the HNC with a 3rd year supplimentary certificate was equivalent to a Bachelors Degree.

In 1985 and again in 1993 the qualifications were adjusted to a different equivalence.

History[edit]

I propose a merger of all these ONC, OND, HNC, and HND articles...

here's a fascinating article about the history of HNC, HND, ONC, and ONDs in the UK... I didn't know they went back to 1922! http://www.technicaleducationmatters.org/publications/historyexams/chapter4 139.166.230.63 (talk) 18:06, 8 November 2012 (UTC)macdaddy[reply]
