Requested move[edit]

Move page back to Ospreys - which currently just redirects to Ospreys (rugby union team).

    • To be honest, I would prefer to leave this as it is. This page was originally "The Ospreys", which is strictly speaking wrong. If you check the Ospreys official web site, on the logos and on the titles, their name is "Ospreys"; not "The Ospreys". For the rugby team, "Ospreys" would be better but I can see that bird watchers would strongy disagree with this, I would have "ospreys" go to "Osprey (disambiguation)". Granted many people looking for the rugby team would search for "the ospreys" - that already redirects here, which is fine. I know that including or not including the "The" in the name is quite a subtle point but the reason I felt this had to be changed from "The Ospreys" to "Ospreys (rugby union team)" is that I had an issue previously over street naming, for example "The Bishop's Avenue" is a different street to "Bishop's Avenue" in London and including or not including the "The" in the name did matter. • Oppose: most people who type in ospreys will be looking for the bird. So I suggest that Ospreys redirects to Osprey or to Osprey (disambiguation). I won't oppose moving Ospreys (rugby union team) to The Ospreys, if that would be preferred. --Vclaw 22:49, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose: Same rationale as Vclaw. Olessi 17:26, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. But support changing Ospreys to a redirect to Osprey (disambiguation). I oppose "The Ospreys" as that is not the team's name, and doesn't really help resolve the ambiguity. 24.17.48.241 03:23, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Ospreys should redirect to osprey or, failing that, osprey (disambiguation). -Sean Curtin 04:35, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As there's no consensus for a move, time to close this off. EconomistUK 10:05, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox[edit]

I've started a conversation at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rugby union#Welsh infoboxes about possibly replacing the infoboxes on the Welsh team articles with {{Rugby Team infobox}}. Please post comments there. Hairy Dude 23:28, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article name[edit]

I think this article should be at Ospreys (rugby team), as Ospreys (rugby union) does not actually clarify what it is, eg, it may look like it is a governing body etc. Narrasawa 10:46, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody has disagreed with this, so it's moved (WelshBloke 11:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Article name again[edit]

This article should be named Ospreys RFC, per convention of Category:Welsh rugby union teams. I wil rename it now. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:39, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That was not the right thing to do, and you know it. You should have at least waited for consensus on the move. The fact is that the team is not known as Ospreys RFC, just as the Llanelli Scarlets, Cardiff Blues and Newport Gwent Dragons are not respectively known as Llanelli Scarlets RFC, Cardiff Blues RFC and Newport Gwent Dragons RFC. I have reverted the move. - PeeJay 15:00, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please WP:AGF, and do not assume that I acted out of malice. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 08:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I was not intending to imply that you weren't acting in good faith. Still, like I said, you should have waited for a consensus on the matter before unilaterally moving the article. - PeeJay 12:59, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ospreys badge.png[edit]

Image:Ospreys badge.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Made lots of changes[edit]

More info, and a big update. Also made changes to the other regions to match. Was unable with Cardiff Blues due to the fact i could not find any player stats.

Not sure if you want to put "Ospreylia" or "The O's" as nicknames. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.155.9.115 (talk) 01:52, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ospreylia is not a nickname for the Team but a nickname for the Region that the team represents. The O's is the usual nickname (or abbreviation to be precise) with other more pejorative names used by supporters of other regions (Budgies, Galacticos, etc) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Owain Glyndwr (talkcontribs) 09:07, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Regional rugby in Wales[edit]

the map of regional rugby used in this article is totally incorrect and misleading. It shows the Vale of Glamorgan as being part of the Ospreys region, when in fact it is part of the Cardiff Blues region; it shows South Powys as being part of the Scarlets region, when it is part of the Blues region, and north Powys and everything north thereof as part of the Scarlets region, when if fact responsibility for this area has been taken over directly by the WRU in order to prepare for the future introduction Gogledd Cymru (North Wales team). Gogledd Cymru will play in the Welsh Premiership and then hopefully move up to regional level and join the Magners League, though the timeline is still uncertain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Owain Glyndwr (talkcontribs) 09:16, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ERC awards[edit]

I've added the ERC elite awards as a separate section. Should I have put them under honors? If so then other teams will need to be changed. Simon — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.251.254.223 (talk) 14:02, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
