Overseas teams in the main competition of the Coupe de France → Overseas France teams in the main competition of the Coupe de France – To match Overseas France, which is the common terms used for the non-European French territories. "Overseas teams" would include anywhere not in L'Hexagone, which would include e.g. Corsica. Whereas this is just for the non-European places, i.e. those we describe on English language Wikipedia as Overseas France. If someone can think of a more WP:CONCISE title, then please do suggest one. Comment. I don't like the fact that we use Overseas France on en.wiki, and not the more correct Overseas departments and territories but I guess I missed that discussion in 2017. The suggested Overseas France teams feels a bit clunky, so I would suggest Teams from overseas France if we can't have Overseas departments and territories teams. (edit conflict) @GiantSnowman: There is enough coverage, I think, in national sports media (L'Équipe, foot-national, actufoot, francetvinfo and more) and regional media (leparisien, ouest-france, ladepeche, lanouvellereuplicain etc) plus significant local coverage in the overseas territory for any tie involving an overseas team in the main competition. Less so this year due to the COVID special format. There's often English language coverage for any team who actually wins a game at this stage (due to the novelty value of the competition allowing teams from 7000 miles away to enter, I expect). Both rsssf and the FFF pull this out as a separate fact of interest from the main competition. It would be a keep for me at any AFD. Gricehead (talk) 14:15, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Overseas France is a singular of a whole, however you are referring to multiple clubs which would be Overseas French teams. The whole title seems wrong somehow, it would be more correct as Non-native French clubs in the Coupe de France. Govvy (talk) 14:15, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I feel I am getting into the realms of how to use French language and what is correct, and why do you need to match one article's title? For the whole entity, it's Overseas France, for addressing the entities, clubs, Islands, why you are addressing in part. Oppose What really clinched it for me was just reading Coupe de France#Overseas teams and seeing terminology there. The section isn't "Overseas French teams", for starters, and the text just refers to "overseas teams". If I understand correctly, Monaco is the only other country that has any level of participation, and they aren't "overseas" from (mainland) France. Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin and Wallis and Futuna[edit]

Pinging @Luks25: regarding the addition of the text However teams from Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin and Wallis and Futuna doesn't play for unknown reasons. I don't think this is entirely true. Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy have their own associations which are not (or are no longer) affiliated with the FFF. The Football Association of Wallis and Futuna seems to be pretty much a non-entity, as quoted in the sources on the respective page, and I can find no mention of it's FFF affiliation. @Gricehead Thank you, I will remove that part. I researched on the internet about it and didn't find anything, so I added the phrase. I thought it was something to do with FFF membership. I thought that maybe Saint Martin, as a member of CONCACAF, is not interested in playing in the Coupe de France. But Reunion Islands are associate members of CAF and they compete, so I don't know if it makes a lot of sense. I didn't find anything that confirmed or denied the statement. As for Saint Barth, I found that the FFF supports them in developing youth levels of football, but I didn't find anything about professional/amateur football, I just found that they are looking to become members of CONCACAF, just like Saint Pierre et Miquelon . And I didn't find anything from Wallis and Futuna either. But even so, I find it strange, especially in the case of Saint Martin that their teams don't play in the Coupe de France.
