P&O Irish Sea

An article has been created for the P&O Irish Sea section of the P&O Ferries Group as they have seperate histories and trading names. For anything relating to P&O Irish Sea (exluding the brief time where they traded together as P&O European Ferries) please put them into the P&O Irish Sea article JonEastham 20:17, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

P&O in the Media

A P&O ferry, ostensibly on the Dover-Calais run, is featured prominently near the end of the 2005 movie, On A Clear Day. The movie is described on IMdb at http://imdb.com/title/tt0410400/. (This is my first contribution to Wikipedia, and I'm not sure of the best way to present this factoid on the P&O page.) id2nh 01:03, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

The whole article is messily written and there are lots of POVs in there. Anyone who is a fan of P&O ferries may wish to clear this up for us?

Will have a go at it, is quite disappointing that theres no mention of the joint venture between P&O and Stena on the Dover - Calais route as P&O Stena Line. [1] <- link for helping joint venture write up. JonEastham 20:13, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
It is, I'm surprised no-one has been tempted to expand this further. Perhaps a separate article is appropriate for P&OSL, linked to from here... UkPaolo/talk 21:09, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Yep, i spotted it after writing, it was very easy to miss, have expanded it a little bit, and rewritten the first parts, will continue cleaning up this page soon. I have thought about it a bit and think that a seperate section for P&O Irish ferries being a different section of P&O Group would be a good move as a seperate article in the future. I work for a company with a close partnership with P&O, particularly the Dover-Calais and Hull routes - I'm a bit surprised that only one of the two ships on each of the Hull routes has it's own page, I'll try and find some independent sources about those ships and see if I can find enough to create a page. Certainly the stats are identical, although I don't currently know any secondary sources - hopefully more to follow when I get a chance.

I can also review other sources or get answers to questions if anyone has any - just drop me a line. I don't have any direct affiliation with P&O and so I hope my knowledge isn't considered to be an agenda - while I am 'a fan' to an extent I'm not interested in pushing their products! The article jumps around from past to present. I shall make a start of organising the sections to non-ferry enthusiasts can make sense of the company. Philphos (talk) 13:57, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

I've started re-writing the entire article on my Sandbox page, largely keeping the history section the same but compacting the route bits into a chronological section for each of the route areas (eg Dover, Portsmouth, North Sea, Irish Sea) which then has a link to a sub-article if you want more in depth information about that specific area e.g P&O Ferries (Portsmouth). I think that's the only way to solve the past to present problems as to have it all on in section would just boggle the mind of most readers. JonEastham (talk) 17:03, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
I wish you luck trying to sort this article out Jon! Ive tried making sense of it a few times. Why cant P&O just keep their operations simple like Stena! Philphos (talk) 18:30, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
The P&O Portsmouth article was merged into the P&O Ferries article sometime ago. I can't remember if there was a P&O North Sea Ferries one but both would need to be reinstated as the current link just lead back to this article. Red Fox (talk) 10:16, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
On my list of things to do, but won't be able to do for sometime. Feel free to fix JonEastham (talk) 18:16, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Fleet?

Looking back at older revisions, there was a table of P&O's ships. I see it has gone, and the fleet section is empty, but I can't see how to get it back? Cheers, MrDerails (talk) 08:14, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

I have fixed the problem with the table. This has been changed by IPs so needs verifying that the changes are correct. Keith D (talk) 18:29, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks very much. Cheers, MrDerails (talk) 12:17, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
