Shitty refs for the short name[edit]

Two sports writers using initials to support "PFC" are you serious? Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:23, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is the "Ferryside Derby" even real?[edit]

Does it really make sense to call a fixture a main rivalry and when the clubs have only met one time? I feel like this is a similar situation to a controversy on the Vancouver Whitecaps FC talk page that occurred a couple years ago where it was decided that Vancouver Whitecaps FC did not really share a remarkable rivalry with FC Edmonton as they did not compete in the same league, play each other with enough frequency, or have enough significant history. Correction: the FC Edmonton vs Vancouver Whitecaps FC rivalry discussion was on this page: Template talk:Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Not the Vancouver Whitecaps FC talk page. Nelson Roy (talk) 21:06, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that "rivalry" is a bit of a stretch after just 1 match. It was a significant match and does deserve a place in the history section but no more. BLAIXX 01:06, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is not even a derby. It is not supported by the supporters group. It cannot be supported by the league as they play in different leagues. I can't see Canada Soccer supporting it. The only thing that can be said about the one time they have met is that the victory—the second Vancouver had suffered to a CSL side—resulted in the (long overdue) removal of their head coach. Exactly. In my opinion the rivalry section should include a rivalry with Cavalry FC (which I already made a section about and am currently working on its own page), and eventually the Vancouver expansion team (that will likely play in Surrey). I was recently discussing Pacific FC's rivalries on a reddit community and many fans seem to think Vancouver Whitecaps FC is their main rival because they don't want to play "third wheel" in the Al Classico, however, I would argue that the Cavalry - Pacific fixture is much more competitive and fiery, especially after the 2021 season. Definitely beats watching Cavalry massacre FC Edmonton every 3 weeks or so. Nelson Roy (talk) 16:53, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
