Just want to clarify[edit]

Fish nor fowl[edit]

I hope the contending editors stop just reverting each other and discuss their issues here in talk page. Some of the adverse reviews don't deserve a link. Not because they are against the product, but because they have elaborate video ads, multiple popup ads, and other reasons for not linking. There ought to be room for compromize, and editors who want more links ought to look for better (not necessarily more favorable; merely better) external sites. Never built?[edit]

It always felt more like they were floating the idea, had a couple prototypes out, just to see what people would think. I doubt that Palm ever actually contracted with a manufacturer to build Foleos. bluemonq (talk) 20:17, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A year too early?[edit]

There are now (May 2008), several mini notebooks on the market as well as a few that will be released in the next few months. Asus Eeepc, MSI wind.. Were they simply too early?

Yes and no. The EEE pc was supposed to be around $250 at launch, but the price (and now the entire market) kept creeping upwards. Still, the benefit of the netbooks was that they were a whole lot cheaper, and offered a lot more storage on-board. Perhaps if the Foleo was priced closer to that of the original EEE pc ($350 or so), had closer to 1GB in the form of onboard storage or bundled SD card, and then marketed it as a netbook that functioned even better when partnered with a Treo... I could see that being somewhat successful. But positioned as what seemed like a Treo-complementary device, it wasn't a great sell.
