For those who have indicated this is a page please indicate what other information you would like included. Panton Hill is a very small town. Hobo 07:27, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know how you mean, it's very difficult finding stuff to put in the small town articles but is seemingly easy getting a well-documented inner suburb into the GA and FA stakes. I'd start with the Melway and the ABS stats, look up anything whatsoever that comes up, there's some very interesting stories that come out. Christmas Hills, Victoria and Roleystone, Western Australia are examples of what one can do with seemingly very little. Another way is to look at an established suburb article - eg Marmion, Western Australia - and try to fill out the subject headings. Orderinchaos78 15:46, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problems[edit]

  1. The last sentence about Children of God does not appear to be sourced. I'm not sure whether or not its significant to the city. If so, it needs to be sourced.
  2. The raid is irrelevant to the city.

  • I am curious, how did you first find out about this article? Smee 04:38, 30 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]
    • I do not see any problems with the sentence - it has two sources, both from an institutional newspaper, and more could be found with an archive search (sadly most newspapers of that time are not available electronically on Factiva etc) - the story was *huge* at the time. For comparison's sake, Hamersley, Western Australia, a Wikipedia featured article from March, contains references to a domestic murder which took place in the suburb in 2000, which is similarly referenced. • Thank you for your comments and clarification of this. I'll try to find some more sourced citations to add to the article. Smee 06:44, 30 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Distances[edit]

I changed the distances as they seemed incorrect. Previously 40km from Melbourne CBD, and 5km to Hurstbridge. When measured on Google Earth, distance from CBD to Panton Hill is 31KM (Flinders St Station to Panton Hill General Store) and 4.2km from Hurstbridge to Panton Hill ( Hurstbridge Station to Panton Hill General Store). I hope that this method of measurement is deemed acceptable. Thanks Bmentha 13:04, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Early Goldrush history[edit]

Should the article have some info relating to Panton Hill's early goldrush history as Kingstown? After all it was the second town where gold was found in Victoria (after Warrandyte). I feel that this is somewhat significant. Bmentha 13:11, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Children of god[edit]

I have removed the Children of God section. This is because:

The information is old; This is not representitive of the town; The information is trivial; and I do not think it adds to the article other than filing up space.

I think if we had a longer history section we could put this back in but until then my view is that it is left out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardmilgate (talkcontribs) 12:05, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Link to Panton Hill community website[edit]

I'm afraid that this constitutes an add. It's so up front as an add it will have to go. I don't think it helps the wikipedian reader. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardmilgate (talkcontribs) 12:06, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
