There is no mention of the fact that before acquiring its current name in 1819 based on the Lafayette visit, it was known as "Punkinville". My only source on this was a conversation with a local when I visited the village, so I am not inserting anything into the History section. If others can substantiate this with a source, I think it is an interesting detail, if true.2001:5B0:2274:74A8:89E3:DFF1:BAE4:6803 (talk) 10:47, 24 May 2019 (UTC) I suspect that the 1819 name change to Paris described in Hagemann reference is wrong given the following: (1) Per Richard E Small reference, Paris Post Office was established in 1800. (2) Per National Intelligencer and Washington Advertiser (Washington, DC) 17 Nov 1802, Virginia Mail Route #28 visited post office at Paris. (3) Per Virginia General Assembly in 1810 they were creating a town "at a place called Paris in Fauquier County". (4) Archives of Virginia General Assembly 1819 contains no mention of town of Paris. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joefioramonti (talkcontribs) 21:00, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
