Banned from Olympics[edit]

Surely the article should mention that McQuaid was banned from the Olympics (1980 or 1976) due to his having broken the boycott of apartheid by racing in South Africa (for considerable money, under a false name). 92.29.35.229 (talk) 17:13, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jim's passing I recollect, 1991, after he moved to Raheny, but what happened to Paddy? He must have been 20 years in CRE and ICF, but there was no money in that then, did he retire out of Dublin, or still lives in Glasnevin?

Aye, Jim died in Raheny, but Madge is still there. He was literally a stone's throw from Joe Doyle, who was brother-in-law of Donal O'Connell. You'd find the lot of em, plus Steve "the kid" Lawless and Paddy McInerney, and a slew of Lallys and Kimmages, over at Paddy McQuaid's in Ballygall in the 1970s.82.141.251.29 (talk) 09:21, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New category[edit]

I see discussion of having more related profiles in Wikipedia, good. There is an obvious place for Irish cycling organisers or administrators as a category then, as part of a bigger such category for the whole rather large area of Irish sports administration and promotion. If this is done, it should not just be filling in the historical gap but also taking in modern organisers like the team trying to keep the globally-recognised Ras afloat, and those organising mountain biking events. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.160.156.249 (talk) 08:49, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Children[edit]

I am working on other articles on Irish cycling. While cross-checking with this one, one of the more substantial, I noticed an obvious gap. Pat McQuaid has at least two children actively involved in modern cycling matters, but they are not mentioned. One was involved in a major British team, the same or another the agent for several cyclists, including Stephen Roche's son. Can someone sort that out?
