IMHO, this Discography is not very user-friendly due to the various catgorisations used, leading to the duplicate listing of some releases. Better, perhaps to simply list releases in chronological order, with maybe a column to indicate relevant catgories, if necessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.24.235.139 (talk) 23:40, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely seconded. It's a gigantic mess at the moment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.138.230.41 (talk) 03:40, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A third official agreement that this page is completely disorganized via the various subcategories. I suggest a revamp by list Pat Metheny's albums by their release date. Granted, his is a quasi-talented and versatile musicians, but here is an example of how disorganized this appears to the typical Wiki reader. Jaco [1974] and Bright-sized Life [1975-76] are buried in the middle of this article whereas they were the artist's first two major recordings. The 'White album' from 1977 from his Pat Metheny Group is breezed over and barely reference whereas, it launched his career ultimately. Also the importance of, Full Circle is slighted as well. Is this strictly a discography or is it to be a biography for Pat Metheny? The Budzone guy 14:44, 25 June 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beadbud5000 (talkcontribs)

Pat Metheny Group[edit]

What about "In Concert" album? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.51.107.115 (talk) 23:52, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Structure[edit]

A dog's breakfast. There should be four tables:

  1. Studio albums as leader in chronological order, including the Pat Metheny Group albums.
  2. Live albums ditto.
  3. Compilations.
  4. Appearances (albums and individual tracks).

The first two tables should include an additional column briefly describing the ensemble on each album.

You are correct in saying that Metheny is the leader on 80/81, and therefore incorrect in listing it as an appearance.

With the Heath Brothers[edit]

All of these albums are permutations of the Midem concert bootleg that first appeared on LP in 1984, some with additional scraps not involving Metheny.

Delete.
