Evidence for the name "dillaby" for this animal?[edit]

I'd like to see sources on this. I can't find the word used in a Google Books search, and there are few hits even on the Web, suggesting people may have copied fake info from this Wikipedia original. Equinox 11:16, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was added in 2012 by an IP editor with no other edits. I'm going to remove it as it seems to be likely to be a hoax. Plantdrew (talk) 15:32, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Plantdrew: Thanks. Are you able to delete the Dillaby redirect too? Equinox 14:49, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Equinox:, I didn't realize there was a redirect. I can't delete it myself. I see it was requested to be created in May 2022 (based on it's being mentioned in the article), and was apparently deleted and then recreated in March 2023 (per the edit history of the redirect). Plantdrew (talk) 15:46, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Nyttend: Please justify your recreation of this hoax redirect. Your edit summary seems rather ironic. Equinox 14:51, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I use this summary when it's clear that someone has been abusing G4 to get rid of large amounts of obviously good content. In this case, a block-evading editor happened to be reviewing a batch of AFC/R requests that obviously qualified to be created, and it's ridiculous to say that a large number of useful redirects, e.g. square flipper seal => bearded seal, should be deleted merely because of the person who happened to review the requests. You're free to request deletion, and I won't participate because I don't have an opinion, but please don't complain at me when I'm merely undoing someone else's damage. Nyttend (talk) 20:48, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Nyttend: In good faith, I had no way to know that. The machine showed me that you did it. There was no message saying "special batch action". The undeletion was still wrong. Anyway, I've set up a deletion request. Thanks. Equinox 05:55, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How did you have no way to know this? Everything is publicly visible, courtesy of WhatLinksHere. Nyttend (talk) 21:14, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
PS, a situation when G4 might be useful is if a blocked user's sock username goes around and creates potential problems, e.g. I'm such a user and I create fbegruo as a redirect to Patagonia. After I'm reblocked for creating hoaxes, G4 can be used to get rid of questionable stuff. But in this case, an innocent other person requested a batch of redirects, and since there was no reason to decline them, the batch delete damaged the project; if this is a hoax, the innocent other person got deceived by it. Finally, remember that there's no speedy delete criterion for hoaxes, unless they're extremely obvious, e.g. Patagonian mara doesn't exist => Patagonian mara.
