This isn't impartial

Sentences like "She never really recovered from his death" and "[she] fell head over heels in love with him" do not have the impartial tone appropriate for an encyclopedia entry. Also, there are no dates in the paragraph that alludes to her mental deterioration and death.

Some of the phrasing of the 'Have I Got News For You' bit is unfair - it particularly casts Ian Hislop in a negative light. While he may have gone a little too far at times with his comments, that's no more than most contestants on the show receive, and very few of the comments (none, to my rememberance) were about her relationship with Michael Hutchence, they were about her selling her stories to tabloids. I think it needs to be reworded to point some of this out... 86.0.232.60 17:09, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

The general slant of this article is in favour of Ms Yates. Can someone remove the bias please? 81.86.107.17 19:30, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

In what way is it in favour of Paula Yates? It seems quite neutral to me. --Timtak 03:29, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

"Yates's dispute with the Hutchence family over Michael's estate saw her struggling to bring up her daughter." - This statement in the article is attributed to Gerry Agar's book without a page citation, (and it appears slanted and incorrect). It was reported that the legal disputes were over the amount of the estate, not how much Paula Yates was entitled to. Some members of the family thought the financial advisors, Colin Diamond and Andrew Paul were hiding some $25-30 million in assets. Lomboksurf (talk) 17:56, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

"Good time girl"

During her lifetime, there were constant insinuations that he had slept her way to the top. Whether this is true or not is debatable, but she certainly did appear in the porno mag Penthouse. So, she was a porn star, whether she was a prostitute or not has yet been proved.Dolmance 05:24, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Appearing in Penthouse makes her a porn star?? That's a little harsh. --ukexpat 16:56, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Her DoB

IMDB says birth date is 04/24/1959 (not 1960 as shown in Wikipedia).

And her quoted age at death (41) is inconsistent with the date of birth given, but consistent with the IMDB birth date.
The BBC consistently says 1960 (at the h2g2 page linked to on the page, among others) and age 40 at death, and there is a clear Google majority for 1960, so I changed it back. SeL
According to her Mother's book 'Big Girls Don't Cry' she was born in 1959. I think if anyone should know she should LOL. (80.0.108.109 15:40, 4 November 2007 (UTC))

Right and Astrotheme, the biggest astrological database on the Web says 1959,jeanne (talk) 15:43, 7 April 2008 (UTC)so why not just revert back to 1959?

"So why not just revert back to 1959?" Because everytime someone changes it to the correct date someone else changes it back to 1960. This is why there's a talk page so people can work out the correct information.

86.29.237.196(talk) 12:37, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

The death index 1984-2006, now on the article, shows she was born on 24 April 1959. Qzm (talk) 02:46, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

I see that date has been changed back to 1960 again 82.11.104.24 (talk) 17:29, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

I've just corrected it back to 1959 and added the bfi database as another source (they've checked her birth records which confirm 1959). What with this, the death index, and her mother's book, there really shouldn't be any more doubt. Crisso (talk) 20:32, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Add a pic!

It would be helpful to add a photo of Paula Yates if anybody has one.

Welsh Jew?

Why is she in the category of Welsh Jews? Could we have evidence for this (perhaps it is mentioned in her mother's book, "Big Girls Don't Cry"), as it appears someone is editing various celebrity profiles to state that they are Jewish when in fact they are not. I am not sure why this is being done, but I suspect it is with malicious intent. What kind of paternity test was performed and was it double-tested for accuracy?Who had it done,Paula or Green? Why can't the media show a little bit of class?Did they have to publicise the fact that Green MAY have been her natural father and thus ruin her life by doing so?I say this because article implied she took "fatal herion overdose" as a consequence of discovering her true paternity.jeanne (talk) 07:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

What... do you have a problem with God's chosen people, the JEWS??? Sugardaddy852204 (talk) 17:30, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Chris Green

Chris green DID NOT EVEN know his half sister so is info in his book reliable? I marked the section to be cleaned up. It is below:

The Aftermath of Paula's Death={cleanup-section}Hughie Green's son Christopher ( who did not have any direct information about Paula's affairs during her lifetime ) has gone on record as saying that Kel Hutchence (Michael Hutchence's father) never fought for custody of Tiger Lily, (a fact that has also been stated in many newspaper articals.) In his book Hughie and Paula, he says the late Kel Hutchence "was one of the very few decent people out there who tried to be the peace maker in a sad story". According to Christopher Green, Kel's ex-wife and step-daughter only made motions to gain custody of Heavenly after Yates's death. In his memoirs, the homo actor Rupert Everett included the revelation that he conducted a six-year affair with Yates.

I agree

Funny how as soon as Paula died all these 'good friends' came out of the woodwork and how they 'just have to tell their story.' I give up on this page - in Paula's words "Everything You Know Is Wrong." (INXS-Girl 17:08, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Not true

"Soon after her death, Tiger Lily, in agreement with Hutchence parents, was adopted by Yates' ex-husband Bob Geldof, so that she could be raised with her three older half sisters Fifi, Peaches and Pixie." Michael's mother did not agree, she and her daughter Tina tried to stop Bob from day one. 82.18.230.206 (talk) 14:16, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

I just deleted that particular part saying he had permission as that's not correct nor is it mentioned in the cited source Havok22 (talk) 13:06, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Hutchence's

For the ill educated who keep deleting the possessive apostrophe from Hutchence's, to make it read Hutchence, would you all please go to [1] and learn how to use this little understood punctuation mark. Hutchence's may sound a little odd to unpractised ears, but it is correct English. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 20:52, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, get a life you sad little man. Ill educated? All those years at uni down the drain. 82.18.230.206 (talk) 20:55, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
LOL well you know what they say - Those who can, do - Those who can't, teach - and Those who can't teach become University lecturers. But don't shoot the messenger pal, I am just pointing out the correct use of punctuation within the English language. And cheer up, you have just learned something new, that you didn't know before. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 21:00, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

References

'The truth' about what?

You say 'Several people have written books claiming to know the truth about Paula Yates'. You might say whether this refers to her possible suicide, her paternity, or the mind-boggling conditions under whch her mother claims she was conceived. 86.155.209.111 (talk) 22:06, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

'Suicide Blonde'

I have removed the reference stating that the INXS song 'Suicide Blonde' is not about Yates - if it WAS about her, that would be relevant, but seeing as it isn't, why mention it? The song was written ten years before she died, and as Michael Hutchence died three years before her, there's absolutely no reason why anyone should think the song is about her, unless Hutchence had second sight and predicted her death (which has never been proven to be suicide anyway). Smurfmeister (talk) 14:52, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Drug addiction

I think this article would benefit from some information on when her drug use began? It seems a bit odd when you read at the end about the heroin overdose- when there's no prior information about her having used drugs? 82.46.79.61 (talk) 17:39, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

I agree. It talks about her being a mother of three children as well as an award winning journalist/author. Was she a chronic user or was this a new habit? 174.6.44.36 (talk) 05:11, 11 April 2014 (UTC) 31jetjet

Peaches full name?

On Peaches' page, her name is only written as Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof - without Michelle Charlotte Angel listed as part of her name - so which is correct? Trista 24.176.191.234 (talk) 01:28, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, "Michelle Charlotte Angel Vanessa" ....I do not personally remember her having all these names. Help please? Trista 24.176.191.234 (talk) 01:29, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind, I found the unsourced edit from February, and am now reverting it as uncited. Trista 24.176.191.234 (talk) 01:37, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

main picture inappropriate

she was 41 when she died. the picture should at least show her in her mid to late 30s. the main picture is inapporpriate. 213.114.2.138 (talk) 18:55, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
