Pertinent text from New International Encyclopedia

New International Encyclopedia wrote the words that describe the Peabody Education Fund and George Peabody, too. There is recurrent confusion with George Foster Peabody who was a lad of 15 in 1867 when the Peabody Education Fund was established by older richer George Peabody (1795-1869).

Tuskegee[edit]

In Booker T. Washington's Up from Slavery, chapter 12, Washington says the Peabody Fund gave Tuskegee an allowance of $500 that had been increased to $1500.
