Following Chang, Wang, Zhang, Liu, Liang, Wang, Shi, Su, Zhang et al. 2008, the Hainan Peacock-pheasant deserves to be recognized as a species-level taxon. This taxon has been granted approved species (AS) status by the IOC and is a part of the currently underway draft for the new publication. --Famedalupi (talk) 08:21, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization of species names within this genus[edit]

The word after the hyphen should (maybe) not be capitalized according to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (fauna)#Capitalisation of common names of species.
