Date of Desormière recording[edit]

This famous recording was based on the production which debuted at the Opéra-Comique on 22 May, 1942. See Roger Nichols in the Cambridge Opera Handbook on Pelléas et Mélisande (page 159). Jacques Jansen's obituary in The Independent confirms the 1942 date [1]: "In February 1942, despite the war in Europe, he managed to get across the border to Geneva, where he sang Pelléas under the baton of Ernest Ansermet. Back in Paris, in April and May that year he recorded Pelléas, with Irène Joachim as Mélisande, conducted by Roger Desormière. This recording remains the classic version of Debussy's opera." --Folantin (talk) 09:14, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1981 recording missing[edit]

We seem to be missing an 1981 recording, probably in English, with the English National Opera under Mark Elder. I discovered this while researching the Mélisande, Eilene Hannan. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 04:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
