– This is obviously not the primary topic of "penitente[s]", but a figural use familiar only to arctic geologists, high-altitude mountaineers, and their ilk.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  10:02, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support doesn't seem to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Among my top 50 Google Books hits [1] for "penitentes are" (quick-and-dirty way to restrict to English), I see only nine for the snow formation, with the rest referring to the Penitente Brotherhood or other penitent orders. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 06:52, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The description of the formation of penitents is badly written, thus too hard for laymen to understand.[edit]

Description of formation of penitents is badly written, thus too hard for laymen to understand. I do understand how they are formed, and what the article says. If I did not, I could not make this criticism. But for several reasons I am unable to correct it, at least for now. Somebody should though. 2604:3D09:8878:4500:31B7:B4DE:C58C:EF8C (talk) 20:02, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
