Controversies

I am removing the "Controversies" paragraph. I'm including the paragraph in full on the talk page to show that the removal is not vandalism but rather an edit which I am justifying below.

Here's the paragraph.

It's my view that the above paragraph shouldn't be on his page at all.

Peter Jones was not involved in organizing the event, he did not arrange the waiting staff or suggest their behaviour and there is no evidence and not even any suggestion that he was in any way involved in any of the reported activities such as solicitation. He was merely an attendee at the dinner and one of many such attendees. I checked the Wikipedia pages for some other attendees and none that I checked had this event listed as a controversy on their page. So it would seem that including attendance of this event on Peter Jones' page has picked him out relative to the other attendees. Further, Peter Jones has a long and detailed biography full of many contributions, achievements and facts. Each such piece of information earns a portion of the space on his page through it's relevance to his life. In contrast, the section and narrative about the reported activities at the charity gala is excessive given there is no evidence that he had any connection with those activities other than being an event attendee. It feels that the paragraph is attempting to taint Peter Jones through association with those activities when the reality is there is no evidence he had any involvement or connection with those activities other than attending the event as did many other people.

I am proceeding to delete the paragraph.

I checked the pages that link to the Presidents Club. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Presidents_Club&limit=500

There are just 7 people with pages linking to the Presidents Club. They are the host, founders, organizers and politicians who resigned or had calls to resign. Peter Jones was the only other person whose page linked to the Presidents Club. Attendance at the event isn't noteworthy for the other attendees, as the event page isn't linked from any of their pages, so that supports the removal of the information from the Peter Jones page. This justification is based on the link evidence from Wikipedia rather than my opinion. ~~Compassionx

IBM cocktail bar?

The 'Businesses' section currently has the statement:

He set up a business in which he made personal computers under his own brand when he was only 16 years old. In his mid-twenties, he opened a cocktail bar in Windsor based on the Tom Cruise film Cocktail. However, he lost £200,000 after deciding to sell it to IBM.

I presume he sold the computer business to IBM, not the bar! However, I don't have evidence. Anyone else want to amend it properly?
