Hollywood Squares revival with Peter Marshall[edit]

To the person who wrote about the new version of Hollywood Squares supposedly on the drawing boards: Where have you heard this information? I haven't seen any "official" sources mention this.

The result of the proposal was Moved to Peter Marshall (U.S. entertainer) per consensus. Hasn't been five days yet, but I can't see any other consensus forming. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 03:14, 25 October 2008 (UTC) Peter Marshall (game show host)??? — Marshall is so much more than a game show host. He's a singer, entertainer, actor. I'm not sure of what it should be moved to, though; Peter Marshall (entertainer) perhaps? — Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 19:57, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
The reason Hammer requested the move was that Marshall is known for activities other than hosting Hollywood Squares. That's why I suggested "entertainer" to address his concerns, along with "U.S." to avoid confusion with the British guy. Deor (talk) 23:11, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not really convinced about his being notable for anything else, but U.S. entertainer is unambiguous and shorter. I would support that move. --Rogerb67 (talk) 01:41, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the proposal was no consensus. --BDD (talk) 23:13, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Marshall (entertainer)Peter Marshall (game show host) – (unbundled as requested) Fails WP:CRITERIA, not used in sources "host Peter Marshall" = 3,560 GBooks vs "entertainer Peter Marshall" = 2 GBooks and therefore unlikely that readers will be searching for "Peter Marshall entertainer". Relisted. BDD (talk) 16:10, 18 September 2013 (UTC) In ictu oculi (talk) 03:29, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support; "(entertainer)" is always a bad way to title an article, and all articles titled that way should be moved to another title. I suppose there will never be a consensus for moving certain present articles, but they are still wrong. 168.12.253.66 (talk) 13:38, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Notable as an actor as well as a game show host. Isn't a game show host an "entertainer" anyway? Dohn joe (talk) 01:21, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We aren't called to generalize or theorize. WP:AT says WP:AT CRITERIA 2. Naturalness – The title is one that readers are likely to look or search for and that editors would naturally use to link to the article from other articles. Such titles usually convey what the subject is actually called in English.. That requires what the guideline says. In ictu oculi (talk) 04:50, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Too late[edit]

User:Wbm1058, apologies I didn't see your comment until after it was closed. Peter Marshall (American game show host) vs Peter Marshall (UK game show host) would indeed make more sense. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:15, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
