* Fix project template and/or "to do list" Current version causes tables of content to be hidden unless/until reader chooses "show."

Sponsorship[edit]

I can't help but notice there's no specific mention of Nike's exclusivity in this PK-honoring, Portland-based event in this article. It seems a new and unusual corporate conflict in college athletics to me and I wanted to ask before my BOLD. (Here IMHO the practice seems a conflict and not anything Wikipedia COI.) Auriemma mentioned this aspect briefly in a pre-game YT interview a few weeks back and I was curious today so I found this article about Bob Huggins by Justin Jackson, The Dominion Post, Morgantown WV:

"All schools involved have deals with Nike, which for WVU is a multi-million-dollar deal annually, according to a source.

"WVU will not release the exact amount due to competing purposes for future contract negotiations, but the value is broken down into the money Nike pays WVU for the rights to be its athletic apparel provider, as well as the value of the shoes, practice gear and uniforms it provides the athletes and coaches of all WVU sports on a yearly basis."

I'm sure there's more rsourcing on this out there. PKI is a fledgling sporting event run by Nike in Portland (perfectly fine), which is invited exclusively from a set of teams with Nike contracts (seems new). I'm trying not to FORUM here but this specific sort of tournament sponsorship seems unique. Is there way more of this kind of branding than I've noticed?
