Origins of Pitch and Putt in opening paragraph contested[edit]

The International Pitch and Putt association date the origin of Pitch and Putt to Southsea, Portsmouth, England in 1914 (Pitch and putt history). The course still exists (website) and bills itself as "The oldest pitch and putt in the world". Tony Hirst (talk) 21:45, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect origin and date of invention?[edit]

The IPPA list pitch and put as being invented in England in 1914 (https://ippa.cloud/pitch-putt/pp-history/), yet it is listed here as being invented over a decade later in Ireland. Which is correct and what is the source used for the origin currently listed on this article? 86.26.90.199 (talk) 23:01, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And the Irish Times puts it in Fountainstown, County Cork, Ireland, "This is quite fitting, because pitch and putt was invented in Cork. It was developed in the holiday town of Fountainstown", and the other pitch and putt governing tradition mentions 1929 as the start date. The answer is to list the disputing points.
