"Dipped"[edit]

I have never heard of this terminology. Inserted seems to be standard and is also likely to be intuitively understood by readers. Should this be changed? User1042💬✒️ 21:03, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dipped is largely still a "standard" term, though I support your use of "inserted" as more useful for the layperson. To people in the industry, when you slide your magstripe through a slot it's "swiping," when you insert the chip into the slot it's "dipping," and when you hold the card over the NFC spot it's "tapping."
