My self Joanna who is citizen of Poland has been working in UK for last two years in Birmingham. I got married to a person having Indian Nationality as per indian Marriage Laws;who was working with me while his stay in UK.

These days we both are having good time in india and we both going back to poland in the month of February 2007.

I would appreiciate if you could please let me know about the immigration Status of my spouse for UK.Is polish nationality is mandatory for him to get before travelling to UK or even Polish visa would serve the purpose.

please keep the subject matter to law[edit]

I removed the paragraph added by User:Kowalmistrz because:

it was incorrect, as Sikorski had renounced his British citizenship (see Zycie Warszawy, Dec 14, 2006);
this article is about nationality law and it would be confusing and distracting to the reader to start adding ad hoc examples of famous people with dual nationality, of whom there are certainly many.

This article appears to be confused[edit]

The Citizenship by naturalisation section asserts, without citing a supporting source, "A person may be naturalised as a Polish citizen after 5 years residence in Poland with a permanent residence permit. That person will most likely be required to renounce any other citizenship held." One wonders , "What action might be taken if he doesn't?" and "Under what authority?"

The Loss of Polish citizenship section asserts, without citing a supporting source, "Since 1962, Polish law (including the Constitution) does not allow the government to revoke someone's citizenship."

I tried to look for clarification at Law on Polish Citizenship (1962, as amended), (2008) legislationline.org, which is in the External links section, but that is an unarchived dead link.

Law of 15 February 1962 on Polish Citizenship at unhcr.org says, in part, "The acquisition of foreign citizenship automatically results in the loss of Polish citizenship. ". -- Boracay Bill (talk) 01:51, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Dual Citizenship[edit]

The last few paragraphs of Dual Citizenship problems and dual citizens traveling to Poland having problems is out of date and maybe even inflated. Perhaps this was a problem in the past but it writes as if this is still a problem today when it is not. Traveling to and from the country is very easy today, whether a citizen or not.

To solve this problem the section needs to be updated beyond 2007 and the amount of information should be changed according to its relevancy.

Polish law does not explicitly allow dual citizenship, but possession of another citizenship is tolerated since there are no penalties for its possession alone.

Polish Citizenship Act of 2 April 2009 Article 3. 1 A Polish citizen at the same time holding the citizenship of another country has the same rights and obligations in respect to the Republic of Poland as the person who has only Polish citizenship. 2. A Polish citizen cannot rely with a legal effect vis-à-vis the authorities of the Republic of Poland on a simultaneously held citizenship of another country and on the rights and obligations resulting thereof.
