Model-Numbers of Porsche Cars[edit]

It is right, that first Porsche models used parts from Volkswagen. But the numbers of these models had nothing to do with numbers of the parts. „Porsche 356“ for example is to be traced back to the number of drawing respektivly draft for a sports car. This number was 356.00.105, dating from July 17th, 1947. Spurzem 14:45, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Production 901's[edit]

Not sure if this article is completely accurate. I can clearly remember seeing some early models badged as 901 in the late 1960's early 1970's. And I can even remember a 1970's Porsche newspaper advert in the UK announcing the change from 901 to 911, coiciding with a re-engineering of the body and a general "beefing up" in style. Is it possible that in the UK (where Peugeot had minimal sales at the time) Porsche used the original numbering sequence? I have to qualify that by saying the UK kids book "Observer Book of Cars" for 1964 clearly calls the model the 911, though presumably this would have used the model names used in the country of origin? However my memory is clear - some at least were badged in the UK as 901. One in particular that I can remember was an orange, left hand drive model owned by a local hotelier which carried a UK "C" registration plate (i.e. a 1963-64 model) Olddemdike (talk) 22:42, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
