Can someone clarify how the first Prefontaine Classic was held prior to his death? Did it go under a different name that year? Was it's name not a memorial effort? 68.178.23.126 21:47, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The event was established in 1973 and renamed after his death, as the article explains. Doprendek (talk) 03:53, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has REALLY messed with the male meet records. I do not know the correct information, but the timings listed are just ridiculous. Some user please fix, or at least delete teh male records section.

I fixed it. --Liface 08:38, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dead links[edit]

The tables with records are full of dead links. (I don't know how to fix it.) -- KWiki (talk) 09:31, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I could be terse here, but google a new link. We can't control when other web hosts delete content, but this meet is so notable that the same information is duplicated in the agate of some newspaper. It's somewhere. Many of those links were IAAF who are notorious for moving the content to a different address on a whim. Trackinfo (talk) 10:18, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I know, I just gave a general notification, nothing else. Thanks in any case. -- KWiki (talk) 11:57, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This kind of goes to my issue with writing these long and unnecessarily complex reference templates. They serve no purpose. We post the location the information came from, it doesn't need any further detail. It doesn't serve to protect us long term if someone changes the link, it will still go dead. All this information that was posted in previous years has been here for that time. Its been open to challenge if it were wrong (it wasn't to my knowledge and I watch this stuff with pretty good detail, as do others). If someone wants to challenge the content, first do your due diligence and look up an alternative or archive link. There is a lot of cross-referencing of this information, particularly at the high level of this meet. Prove it wrong. Trackinfo (talk) 16:55, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1973 establishment[edit]

I have changed establishments dates to 1973; 1975 was renaming, but not establishment. Doprendek (talk) 03:53, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
