Rewrite[edit]

More Native History Please[edit]

I'd love to see more pre-european history on this page. I was recently in PEC and I read at one of the museums that the area was a "nomansland" between warring tribes. I believe the two tribes were Huron and Iroquois, but I'm not sure. Hallowell, former ward in Prince Edward County[edit]

Hallowell, named after Benjamin Hallowell, eminent Loyalist, formerly of Boston. He was the father-in-law of Chief Justice John Elmsley.

The link on Benjamin Hallowell leads to two other people--neither of them Loyalists from Boston. And who was Chief Justice John Elmsley? Birth and death dates for these people wouldn't go amiss. --Oldontarian (talk) 18:30, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

The first 'United Empire Loyalist' settlers landed, in Prinyer's Cove, in the 5th (Marysburgh) Township, in the fall of 1784. Here they 'drew lots' for selecting which piece of property they had been granted, by the British Government, of Upper Canada.
