Is this song about a plane or a train? The lyrics have eluded me in meaning.

it's a train. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.197.74.136 (talk) 19:47, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly Both, allusions to both a train and a plane are made Andy5421 (talk) 17:12, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The term "ride across the sky" does not necessarily deal with flying objects. It can also be found in songs like "Wheels of fire" by Manowar. Taunusstein (talk) 20:21, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

--The song refers to the LMS Princess Royal Class of steam locomotives, the last of which was retired in November 1962. I sent the question to Saxon's Facebook page and Biff confirmed it. Thus, as the song was released in 1981, the first line says, "She used to be an iron horse 20 years ago". --Brent Woods 05:37, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
