Is this article really necessary?[edit]

On June 12th, we may well find out that Prodrive's application to the 2010 Formula One world championship has been rejected, and we'll end up trimming this down and re-merging with Prodrive. The team doesn't exist yet. Making a separate article seems to assume it will become an F1 team, and that's nothing more than speculation. Spute (talk) 21:43, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's mainly a historical thing. Prodrive was selected as the 12th team for the 2008 season, so it seemed fairly likely that they would compete and hence fairly reasonable to create an article. But then they didn't compete in 2008. From memory we considered/discussed deleting the article during 2008, but there was a chance that they might compete in 2009, so we thought rather than delete the article and then possibly have to recreate it a short time later, we'd let it stay until we saw whether they would be competing in 2009. Which (as we now know) they aren't. I suggest waiting until June 12 - if they're on the list for 2010 then we should keep the article; if they're not, then we should merge it back into Prodrive.
